Good day to you all good sires.

Just a question of which laptop is the best for my purpose? Id use it for casual/serious gaming that Id take overseas etc. It'd be quite demanding too.
Points to consider:
- Would the SLi 8600GT be better than the 7900GS? (Ive heard that the 7900s can have better performance, but not too sure).
- Would anything make much of a difference? Such as performance in games would be so dramatically different etc?
- What difference would there be in battery life?
- Is the physical size of the laptop good for performance?

First option laptop:

Second option:

(I dont know how to do fancy html stuff)
Any help appreciated.

7900gs is a little faster than 1 8600gt
yes first one will perform better
cant say different games use up more/less power
you want a 17-19in screen for gaming
If gaming is all that you are going to do then do not buy a laptop. Desktop will be much faster with similar specs of the laptop counterpart.

The one with 7900GS. They will perform similarly, but the 7900 is single-card, and will have better compatibility with games, and will use a lot less power than inefficient scaling cards.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

well SLI 8600gt is faster than one 7900gt. But these are not desktop graphic cards, so I don't know sure.

The GS is slower than the GT.

The 8600GTs will perform better than the 7900GS. Substantially better in some instances.

You can see a few benchmarks for it here. It doesn't do too badly. For a laptop.
