Is Blu-Ray worth it with a 720p TV set?

So what do you think?

We have a TV in the living room, I want the PS3 for Blu-Ray and a few games, but other than that I wont play it too much

The main use of it will be the Blu-Ray... and the TV (DLP) is 720p and im wondering if its even worth it?

Ive seen Blu-Ray on 1080i or 1080p or w.e it is and it was amazing, ive just never seen it on 720p

yes its worth it.

a dvd would be stretched out, and while its watchable a blu ray would still look alot clear and crisp. it just depends on your money situation. if buying a ps3 is no big deal then definatly get one. if things are tight and a hd player is not a priority then spend your money on more important things.

Btw there is barely any diffrence between 1080i and 720p, in order to be "HD ready" a TV must be able to show both 720p and 1080i

1080p is the most though.

4320p will pwn even that, but it also comes out in 2015. 4320p is this resolution: 7,680 × 4,320 pixels

On small screens you can barely notice difference if any from 720p and 1080p.

Sorry, I meant HD-DVD. Even Toshiba absolutely slammed BR away and now even Xbox 360s will be shipping with HD-DVD capabilities. In the long run, I'd say going out for an HD-DVD and TV would be better.

TBH, the biggest difference between blu-ray and and Standard DVDs (IMO) is the sound. If you have a good sound system, Blu-ray is soooooo much better!

Yea man. don't listen to that up converter crap, it wont look nearly as good up scaled as it will from a blu ray player. Plus most up converting DVD Players suck balls the best ones are the Blu Ray players(use HDMI for the best quality). So yea Blu ray is worth it for 720p, 1080p is over rated Bull shit

PS HD-DVD is dead dont bother with that road
