2 liter is not at all a large engine, what are you talking about? It is a small 4-cylinder, my saturn has a 1.9 liter, and only 100 hp.
First time ever driving ever it's quite big.

EDIT: Most of our learner cars are 1.1 - 1.3 etc
Wow about the only thing here with that small of an engine are motorcycles.
Haha, you think 1l bikes are the norm?

My Rover 216SLi is a beast, it's got a Honda engine in it, giving it extra umph.

Though yes, my first lesson went well, "bunny hopped" (clutch too up, with accelarator, makes the car jump along) for about 50 metres without stalling. Then got up to speed, triesd to slip into 3rd gear missed it, went into 5th (WTF) and stalled while slamming the brakes on.

I got a new instructor after that.

So we changed seats, and I jumped behind the wheel. Turned the key, and grinned a big stupid mad grin as the 2 litre burst into life. A bit big to start on I thought though. John told me to dip the clutch, select first, and bring it up slowly, and to balance the revs. So I brought up the clutch, way too fast, and stalled. Then lol'd. Then facewheel'd and hit the horn >.<. Second time I brought it up slower, but too slow, and was at 4k revs before the clutch came to the biting point, and wheelspun, which was fun . But damn the accelerator is so sensitive, and soon it was time to change to second, so I just put the clutch in and John did it for me, as this was my first time. Into third I did myself, at about 35. Christ, speed climbs quickly when you're behind the wheel, and before I knew it I was changing into fourth at 50mph. Then John said right bring us to a stop so I dipped the clutch and slowly eased on the brake, and came to a halt. Then I started shaking from the adrenalin.

Nothing like it, driving. Can't wait for my next 'lesson'. Those were some of the best 40 seconds of my life
specially fun when you're new to the clutch and 60 (+-) cars are behind you on a crowded intersection, always fun.
hahaha, that reminds me of the time i stalled in the middle of rush hour on a busy express way (Think highway with stoplights every half mile that are green for you 90% of the time) right after i started driving here. oh lord the guy behind me was pissed.

also, i did the same thing when i first started finny. once you get used to it the accelerator isnt as sensitive as you think. its because you're bringing the clutch up too slow. one fluid motion is what it should feel like. for you guys across the pond it should be right out, left in.

That's because you Americunts have your stupid big ass saloon cars that handle like boats and your SUVs that are like 10x bigger than they really need to be. You lot may have bigger engines, but they produce a tiny amount of power. You can get like 180hp out of a 3.2, we can get like 180hp out of a 1.6, maybe smaller.

I learnt to drive from my dad and whenever I stalled, he used to say, "Bang, you're tank has just been shot, you are now dead." -He used to drive tanks in the army, so I learnt pretty quick.

woah you need to calm down there buddy. not everyone here drives a big suv or car.  I have a honda 4cyl accord and ford ranger which does have a v6 because i need to be able to pull a 3000 lb boat with it (try that with a little 4 banger even with 180 hp).  also hp isn't everything, torque is also necessary.  My truck may only have 160 hp but i'd like to see you pull off 225lb of torque out of your little 1.6.   and my next vehicle will be a small 4 cyl for gas mileaage, you can't put all americans into one category as wasteful.

First car I ever drove : 3.5l Maxima, 260 hp. Scary as shit. Then, my first manual was a 2.8l. Only stalled twice before getting it though. Problem is, the satll was while I was turning in the middle of an 80kph intersection. Almost really hurt.
