OK :

The L96 is what the british army call their variant of the AWP (artic warfare military)

The AWP (... ... police)  in CS is actualy an AWM, and this naming error was simply an oversight by the game developers. (AWP only comes 7.62 whereas the gun in CS is of a higher caliber which only the AWM uses)
