Celebrations have taken place across Israel to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state. Fireworks, concerts and an aerial display were among the events laid on, while Israeli families enjoyed picnics and barbecues for the national holiday. Israel declared itself an independent state on 14 May 1948, three years after the end of World War II, and the death of six million Jews in the Holocaust. But Palestinians know the foundation day as al-Nakba, or "the Catastrophe". They held solemn marches in the West Bank, meant to symbolise the hope of Palestinian refugees to return to villages in what is now Israel.

In 1948 the creation of Israel solved the Jewish Nation problem, but created another one, the Palestinian problem. How do we solve that?
I think that everyone should come up with ideas to solve this conflict. I have an idea myself. Many people here said before that they should move Israel to Arizona or some other US state. That is ridiculous. Israel should stay where it is now. What about leaving Israel where it is, but as a US state? Nothing would change that much anyway. The only reason Israel exists today is the US protection. So, let Israel become a part of the US. If things stay the way they are today, sooner or later something really bad will happen in Israel and that should be avoided. The US would have another state, a very strategic settlement in the Middle East. Israel would be a safer place, nobody would mess with the US. And Palestine would become a country, because the US would support the creation of a free Palestinian state. It's a win win situation.
Happy birthday Israel.

These charts and figures speak for themselves. Israel has the right to exist. But at what cost?BBC wrote:
