How do you go about making t-shirts like how BustedTees or T-shirt Hell do it? I'd really like to make my own designs, and not through Cafepress or anything. So, does anybody know how they go about doing it? Basically I'd like to know, first of all, where I'd get the t-shirts, how I'd put the designs on the t-shirts, and if I need some kind of business license or anything special to sell the t-shirts online.
Who not Cafepress? As soon as I saw this thread that's exactly what I thought.
You need to get a silkscreen press. ~$2,000+
You also need training on how to do it, and you need the equipment to make the silkscreens. Basically, they shine a really really high wattage light on the screen that is covered with a powder, they put the design in front of the light so it is kinda like shadow puppets.
The light bonds the powder to the screen in the areas that you do not want ink, and then you can brush off the excess powder. Doing multiple colors is difficult.
Or you can also go to Walmart and get those iron-on shirt designs, but you won't be able to sell those pieces of crap.

The problem with Cafepress is that in order to make money you have to put in an evil social security number and whatnot, which my mother would prefer not to do. I could always get them made by cafepress instead of making a store, and just sell them myself or something, but that's sort of tedious.
Tedious work is what pays off in the end, bro.FallenMorgan wrote:

15 more years! 15 more years!
You give them your SSN because you have to pay taxes in this country. If your mom is afraid of someone stealing your SSN on the internet, she should be aware that for $50 you can find out ANYTHING about ANYBODY, including past addresses, neighbors, background information, etc...FallenMorgan wrote:
