Very interesting news. The first generation might not be competitive with GT200 and other high-end gfx cards from NVIDIA and ATi but the second generation sounds very interesting and indeed might be able to compete in high-end as well.

4-core GPUs and those in quad card setup...

Quad Larrabee : Intel's Answer To Nvidia's Domination?

Nvidia is counter-attacking Intel on their upcoming Larrabee GPU calling it a PowerPoint slide and facing constant delays according to a CNET interview with Jen-Hsun Huang. Most probably, the first generation Larrabee will face a tough going against the Nvidia's GT200 series and beyond. However, according to a roadmap VR-Zone has seen, the second generation Larrabee might have a chance against Nvidia's future offerings in 2010-11 with a new architecture, many more cores on 32nm process technology and Quad Larrabee cards support. Clearly, Intel's strategy here is to increase the number of cores per GPU and increase the number of Larrabee GPUs supported per platform. This is possible due to their advanced fab and process technology, an area which fabless Nvidia has little control over and has to rely on TSMC's process technology. We are eager to see the first hint of Larrabee performance on the current and future games.

I might make myself eggs on those 4 cores.

No good... If this goes on, there will be no such thing as a computer, they'll all be Intels. Like the PS/2, a closed system.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

All-in-one pack by Intel.

like AMD... Like Intel Centrino on mobile...
no surprise they do it. AMD has completely AMD based setup so Intel wants one too.

What if they'd fuse togheter with Microsoft to create an already immense, completely closed platform? They'd be able to block out other OS' and technology, and ahve prectically zero competition in any field...

Oh, the horror!!!

Intel graphics cards? Any time I hear that I think of onboard suckish graphics. I know this won't be, but it'll probably be what I instantly think of.

I'd like to see ATi vs. Nvidia vs. Intel though. A 3-way graphics card battle would be nice and lower prices.

Dont worry there is an act or law (cant remember) that stops them from doing that.

Agreed +1 lower prices and more innovation.

i thought of the onboard part as well.  if they can get it down to the point where they're competing with ATi and nVidia, that'd be great as well.
