As you'll probably not know, I'm in the middle of a 6 week pilot training academy at work, and today we went up to 8 Canada Square.
I was happy with this because apart from the free trip to London, a tour of the impressive headquarters of the world's biggest company, and a free lunch; I got to have a lie in until 0800 (normally I'm out the door to get to the academy at 0630).
So I met my mate from the academy at London Bridge, and we wandered across the Thames and along to the Tower of London. Once here, we were unable to resist getting a Core Sundae and Cappuccino each from Ben & Jerry's.
After finishing our snacks, we met with John and headed to the Docklands Light Railway to Canary Wharf station.
The view from the ground is pretty impressive as you approach on the DLR:
Once inside, we headed up to the 15th floor and had lunch at the Costa there (one of three in the building) then back down to the ground floor to begin our tour. We ended up in the Meridian Room on floor 42. The view is unbelievable from there, looking east you can see the Thames Barrier, City Airport and even the QEII bridge in the distance. Above the 6th floor, you can feel the building rocking in the wind. It's kinda disconcerting until you get used to it.

EDIT: Oh, and the entire working day was 1230 to 1545, but I was paid 0800 to 1800
So John, Craig, and I went to the pub afterwards and I got into a conversation with a random Russian guy.
