listen, Im not gay and Im not married.  If/When I decide to get married, its not gonna be to a gay person.  Why should I let what gay people do in their lives bother me?

No different than saying a woman does not have control over her body once she becomes pregnant because life begins the second the egg gets fertilized.  You are defining society by your morals, not someone elses.

not really.  Fascism is Italian authoritarian government from 1922-1943.  Any other definition of the word is colloquial

My marriage is a beaming success both religiously and secularly.  I have respectable kids who respect others (especially elders), i honor and cherish my wife and would never deny her anything less than my best, and her, me.  We look to our marriage as a representation of many things..among which is the fact that it's a God derived commitment that elevates the quality of our relationship in our eyes and in Gods...as opposed to living together selfishly denying such a commitment out of fear or...selfishness like many do.

I can count at least 8 of 10 of my other christian friends who can say the same thing. 

Point being.....your opinion that it's screwed up, likely based on your having viewed crimes reporting domestic abuse and violence, etc (like the good things are equally represented), divorce rates (without comparing countless years of successful marriages)...or whatever...do NOT discount the claim of those defending marriage as a religious value and ordinance.  It's an important, sacred, MEANINGFUL principle of Christian (and secondarily Heterosexual) practice (and other religious practice).  To have non-religious or otherwise aggressive groups changing it's meaningfulness to us, changing nothing but the principle (because they get equal state and other legal benefits) is cause to fight them.

If that offends you, then why aren't you pushing to close down or get rid of nearly every catholic diocese in the nation? Because it's ludicrous that's why. You can't own an idea or practice simply because you claim your institution invented it. Many people were joined together in various ceremonies throughout history, we just happen to come from a Christian nation.

It's quite silly to see people push for freedom on one issue, and then turn around to suppress the freedoms of their brethren when it makes them uncomfortable.

PS:  to those who are homosexual and religious, it's valid to still want the title. I have yet to meet a faithful person who does not choose to ignore parts of the bible when it conflicts with their personal wants, which is why I see no difference in this issue.

Let me articulate then.
1> Contrary to popular belief, hispanics dont come for freebies. They come to work and pay taxes and benefit from what this country has to offer.
2> Hispanics dont take away jobs. People who cant find jobs and want to blame Mexicans are actually lazy and too dumb to realize they are in that situation due to their own failures.
3> Hispanics really love America and would be the first to enlist if it meant becoming citizens. We are loyal peoples.

1. The government should provide the same rights for gay couples as straight couples.

2. The government should not recognize any bond between any couple as anything other than a civil union. Marriage is religious, religious things should not have a place in government, nor should government have a place in religious things.

3. What couples call their civil union is up to them. If a gay couple wishes to be married, let them call themselves married, nobody is forcing Christians to recognize their union as marriage. 

Basically, the only thing the government needs to be involved with is making sure that all couples receive the same benefit from their unions. What the union is defined as is not a government issue.

Are you American or Mexican?  If you are Mexican and it offends you then get the hell out of America if you are here and put your hard work to making Mexico better instead of sponging off the USA.

If you are American you should be offended by people breaking into your country unless you are just scabbing here.

Unfortunately, the idea of marriage spans numerous cultures and religions, and cannot be counted as originally any. Under that principle, a secular culture can create its own marriage, and call it 'marriage', just as every other culture has. Regardless of past, we do not have to stick to those old principles. Tradition is not important enough to keep standards as they are. When marriage became the responsibility of secular governments, then the right of religions to dictate over marriage no longer applied. It is beyond religious hands now.

I applaud California in attempting to join countries such as Canada and the Netherlands in allowing same sex marriage, which has done no harm whatsoever.

If Blacks and Women can have rights why not Gays?
