figure out the ip adress and type that in the adress bar. works everywhere, every time. google can help you find out the ip adress.
Pfft, modern day, this doesn't work hardly anywhere.
All domain names are translated by a system called "DNS" into a IP address.
e.g
http://forums.bf2s.com is actually 123.3.54.132 (not rly... but you get the point)
When you request a website, your computer sends an DNS request to the specified DNS server asking for the IP for the domain name you have just typed in.
The DNS server (which will be the company DNS server) will be set up to "block" any DNS requests for certain domains.
However, this is easily exploited, because you can completely bypass this system by typing in the IP of the server straight away, so no DNS request needs to be made, or you can change your DNS server to someone else.
Usually now, you get content filtering systems that actually look at the content of the webpage, as well as the URL to scan for blocked words etc- which is far harder to get past.
