I like weapons that shoot lead more than lasers. Lasers just seem so.... cold and sterile to me, compared to the brutal grittiness and grunge brought about by today's weaponry. Though future weapons like the railgun are admittedly cool.

I think a BF42 remake using today's technology would be cool, and I don't mean some half-assed mod like BFV had. It'd be cool to fight on Russian maps that's being pounded by a blizzard and cool stuff like that. Something that'd make CoD2 blush.

I am not surprised that it will be futuristic, as a matter of fact I was hoping it would be sci-fi, didn't expect to be mechwarrior sci-fi.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.

I would prefer Battlefield 1492, with Columbus spawn raping the 'native americans'.

Check this out. Sorry if it's been posted already.... I got this link from http://www.bf2rankedservers.com/forums/ … php?t=3446

I'd ditch every game I play to do some Mech action.

Really not that hard to make the guess at a futuristic game. Look at the trend so far... Further in the future everytime.

@Luke911...

I seem to note a DISTINCT lack of BLOOD in BF2. Bloody games? People die without a single drop of blood shed! If you ask me, it's CREEPY! It's like... WOW! Bullets are actually magical disease rays!

@General topic:

Sweet! Mechs! Actually, I'm just waiting on this mod to come out:

Badvock, can you give the website where you got the information from so I can post this on another forum?

I can hear the cries of the noobs now;  "You (armored) suit whore!"
And those aren't lasers.  They're either dual M134's or some futuristic chaingun.
The crap shooting from the top of the mech are rocket pods.

Wasn't this game already made? I think it was called mechwarrior? Battlefield bc....thats funny. Anyway I love first person shooters. I have a game called 'Blade of darkness'. For those of you who never heard of it, look it up. It is a first person hacker. It uses swords, axes, staves, clubs etc. I have often wondered why no big company has attempted a mmog with melee weapons instead of guns. It is one of my top 5 games that I can play a million times over. BTW, anyone know of any other games like this I might be interested in?

This barely is anywhere near mechwarrior, by the way blade of darkness is a third person shooter.

Why don't they just make a map of Iraq?  I think people would be interested in fighting on a current battlefield.  Plus a lot of us who play this game have ate dirt there, so I think it would sell.

I think that a setting like tiberian sun's wouldn't be too bad. Still have guns that fire solid bullets though.

The 40K setting wouldn't be bad either... Although I would really enjoy another WW2 setting as I missed 1942 .
Other than that WW1 would be cool, except EVERYBODY would be a camper...
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

If you've seen any clips from the upcoming Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, it makes sense that EA is moving BF2 into the future.  It puts them on the same futuristic playing field and evens the score so to speak.

Before hearing of this news, I had thought that I'd only be playing BF2 until the release of ET:QW.  Now that is up in the air until it becomes clear which game has more to offer.  ET:QW is the only serious competition on the horizon for BF2 and a futuristic BF2 mod negates that threat entirely.
