Is it worth it? Has SP1 made vista less of a piece of shit? I used to be on Vista Ultimate 32 (no SP) and it blew.

So, what do you reckon? Would there be any framedrop in games, a slower system etc? I'm upgrading to 4GB soon anyway.

What do you think?

I'm running on vista ultimate x64, without SP1. Well your 3dmark score will be a tad lower then in XP, but vista has dx10 support and much other handy features. And with 4gb of ram, vista will run just fine!

I think I'll wait till I get the 4 gigs though, I remember that some games were way too choppy in Vista compared to XP on 2 gigs.

Jup I had that too, I got a bit of lag now and then in BF2 and the percentage of used ram ran up to 98%. So I bought an extra 2gb set of ram (dirt cheap anyway), and now I can open 2364547 apps and 3 games at the same time without getting lag at all

64 bit vista runs fine on 3 GB of RAM for me, no sluggishness at all.  I'd recommend 4 GB but 3 is always a good option if you're short on money.

Vista was never really shitty, unless you count RC1, but since release it has been pretty stable, unless you were using unsupported hardware or beta drivers.

I never really understood why people said "Vista sucks!!! My machine is teh 1337 and vista BSOD's all teh time!!!"

I had vista BSOD at first, turns out it was my RAID drivers, updated them, vista worked fine.

. That's a bit of an overkill, I NEVER use more than 3.5 gb of ram. Although 6gb is an good extension of your e-penis .

4GBs is the sweet spot for Vista x64.  Most apps don't use but 2GBs anyways so having 4GB will allow the OS to use 2GBs and other stuff the other 2GBs.  I can run Xfire, MSN, nonamescript(mIRC), FireFox, Sony Vegas and Windows media player all at once without much issues.  I'm running 4GBs as we speak.

Thing is, it's either getting 4 gigs and throwing the 2 I have now away, or having them all together
