I like the Fontainebleau in Miami, they have a bible in the room, even when half of the hotel guests are Jewish, and I don't mind staying there. Most hotels have the bible in their rooms, so should I stay in the street?Kmarion wrote:

Their point if i've got it right (and are making a waaaaaay too much of a deal about it ) is; if you read the hotel bible the first time and found it boring why did you read it again on multiple occasions knowing it would bore you?!!sergeriver wrote:

The copy and pasting the quote was OTT gents.
Blackbelts are just whitebelts who have never quit.
I haven't been in a hotel in years. What I'm going to try doing is writing my own book, and putting it in with a bible. Then, I'll come back in a week, and see if it's still there. It's funny how there are people who stuff bibles in hotel rooms.
The hotel doesn't usually provide them. Some bloke called Gideon seems to follow me round and leaves his bible all over the place.
I stayed in Bristol for a week in November for training at work and he must have stayed there before me and he'd left it in the drawer. A couple of weeks ago I stayed in a hotel in Crawley and the dopey git had left his bible on the desk.
I just can't work out why I was laughed at when I returned it to the reception desk and requested that they trace Gideon and mail him his bible back...

I read it by chapters. One hotel, one chapter, lol.m3thod wrote:

I'd never read the bible simply because I don't like fantasy novels.

No because it was never read to me. My parents didn't read me silly bullshit, atleast, I can't remember them reading me silly bullshit fairy tales like that, and you're going away from the point.m3thod wrote:

I bet you wouldn't laugh if the hotels had a Qu'ran instead, would you?Stingray24 wrote:

1. I haven't seen any Muslim organizations that place Qu'rans in hotels
2. I never open the drawers on the nightstand, so I wouldn't know if there was a Bible, a Qu'ran, or a phonebook

How do you know there's a Christian organization placing Bibles in hotels if you never open drawers?Stingray24 wrote:

My grandpa was part of the Gideons organization.
What's the alternative serge? Telling people what they can and can't do on their own property. It's THEIR own personal business. You are advocating the government getting involved in religion. Aren't you usually supportive of separation of church and state? You are ideology is very selective when it doesn't serve your taste.sergeriver wrote:

An argument can be made if it can be proven that the owners are passing off the costs of the bibles to the consumer. Or if the bibles are donated the owners wouldn't reciprocate with a non-Christian text similarly donated.Kmarion wrote:

I'd like to see some free porn in addition to free bibles. Cater to everyone.
The alternative is don't put any friggin religious book there unless someone asks for it. Putting a bible doesn't show much secularism. I never asked for a government's intervention anyway.Kmarion wrote:

Their choice and right to put whatever they want in their rooms. Deal with it or buy a tent.sergeriver wrote:

Seems logical, environmentalism is practically a religion.
"Only on request" - however, you know that in extremely deep Christian areas it just wouldn't go down well.
