Alright I take that back, people do care about that. I just don't see people as up in arms about the flag as some Southerners are about other issues involving Christianity mostly.
That's because the Bible Belt is the South ... and most Christians are nothing but a bunch of puppets being led around by political leaders masquerading as religious leaders.   As a result, Christians care more about legalistic political issues that have minor emphasis in scripture (homosexuality and abortion) than they do about the core things that are emphasized in the Bible (generosity, giving of oneself to others, sacrificial love, helping those in need, obedience to God).  Christians should be more offended by their own hypocrisy.

In proper English, shouldn't that ending period be inside the quote?

When did the Washington Redskins change anything?  They've been nothing but defiant about calls to change their logo and their name.
Oh, really?

Shit. I'll change that.

But we can discuss the want to change it.
Why should they be called Indians? They're from America, they aren't from India

As far as I know - no. The period is signifying the end of the sentence, whereas if it was in the quotation marks then it would signify the end of the sentence within the quote.

Anyway - onto the issue at hand...I don't get offended much...very hard to get me actually offended, but if you are referring to the forum:

Refrain from posting messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or are otherwise of questionable content (if you have to ask, the answer is 'No.')
If, however, you are referring to real life...it's culture...and it won't change easily.

Because people are A) too lazy to know what tribe everyone is from. B) too racist to call them Americans.

It's the same reason there are terms like African American for black Americans. Unless you are from Africa and you move to America, you aren't bloody African.

Lol fair enough, it just seems stupid mitch was complaining about having to call them native americans and not indains, when they have nothing to do with india Its like me calling "normal" americans Scandanavians, it makes no sense. Why not jus call them american? I mean they've been there long than all "proper" americans. I dont see why there needs to be a distinction. I'm not offened by it, it just seems silly

Let's call it the blankboard. Win/win.

People are so touchy, and it's not just the States. I say if you find something so offensive, ignore it and deem the offenders as a waste of your time. Some feel the need to defend their beliefs, but leave us out of it, the simple folk who like to live our lives in other ways.

Gordon Ramsay has the right attitude. I'm moving to Scotland.

I'm pretty sure that the period should be outside, though English isn't my native language.

I agree somewhat.  The Redskins need to change their name though.  That has to be one of the most racist, in your face, you are a joke to us, kind of thing.

You even prove it in your justification.  You say that none of the offended are even Indians.

OK FOR THE LAST TIME BECAUSE I AM SICK OF IT.  THERE NEVER WERE INDIANS IN THE UNITED STATES.  COLUMBUS WAS AN IDIOT AND THOUGHT HE WAS IN INDIA.

Please let's not continue his idiocy...

I am Native American, and yes I am offended by the name.

I have alot of family(60+ members) living on a reservation in northern WI where my mother grew up.  "Indian" is not a bad word with any of them and none of them could care less about what outsiders call them.  Last time I was up there one of my cousins greeted me by saying "Welcome Indian Man" in Ojibwemowin.  It doesn't offend me one bit but I'm not a very sensitive person to begin with.

Totally agree Mitch, I actually had a similar post before:

Ok, funny story to share.  So today is Christmas eve, and i got suckered into working this morning.  As some of you know, from previous posts, I work at Quiznos, but that's fairly beside the point.  Anyways, it was just me and my manager today.  He was ringing up some lady while I was wrapping her sandwhich and as he finishes up with her, he says "Happy Holidays".  She stops dead in her tracks, turns and looks at him and says, (something along the lines of) "You know what? That just offended me.  I'm sick of people being politically correct and wishing me happy goddamn (<-- she said that to my manager! ) holidays"  So my manager apologises and tells her that we're supposed to be politically correct to customers and whatnot.

I honestly cannot stand this political correct bullshit.  I really dont care if you are offended, I am actually offended by your offense.

In Britain, it is outside ... in America, it is inside.  So, when you typed your statement in Europe, it was correct .... but once it was sent to BF2s in America and stored on the American BF2s server, then your statement became incorrectly punctuated.

I am part Native American (Indian), and that part of me is neither offended by the use of Redskins by the NFL nor by others using the term "Indian."
