i reckon snipers are kinda shit in light of the 1.2 PKM...like come on with that gun if you see an enemy from any distance i mean ANY distance you can guarantee you will kill it with afew short sprays with that baby...Alottttt better than bang - reload - oh shit i missed him - bang - reload - bang - reload - oh hes finally dead...

I haven't been "sniped by a PKM" yet, and doubt I will be.
You guys are overexaggerating, it's not THAT accurate.
ive only been sniped once by a PKM and i just laughed it off. it maybe acurate but anyone using it can easily be out manouvered or sniped properly because the PKM will still occasionally miss. if you play as support yyou cant keep to the edges of all the battles or stay on hills and snipe you have to get into the middle of the action and thats where the PKM whores get owned me thinks.
its just personal preferance i guess...though long distance shots are a hell of a lot easier with it than before...like go try this when you have a spare moment, go sit up in the crane in sharqi with it and *bang* you probably will do alot better with it, than with a sniper rifle and also the added luxory of unlimited ammo...i know i did betterCrazeD wrote:

The PKM has sniped me a number of times but I prefer sniper kit anyway. Basically my thinking is if I, a sniper, have put myself in front of an enemy machinegun, and I'm visible, I deserve whatever's coming. My whole goal as a sniper is first to avoid being noticed and second to kill. I play the sniper kit like I'm in the movie Enemy At The Gates.
If I need to I'll be there with my squad capping flags and moving between points but I prefer to find the ideal point, get a kill or two, then relocate, always relocate. They come back looking for you and you take them from the other side.
But what I love most is when you get into a sniper war. This is the most fun on open maps, my favourite experience was on FuShe Pass. I kept running into a pair of enemy snipers so we eventually picked a flag to use as a central location and fought eachother the whole map. I ended up with only about 5 - 6 kills and 2 - 3 deaths but it was the most fun ever because I was using every scrap of terrain and cover and crawling between points to find the enemy sniper.
For me a good sniper duel isn't where you're both looking at eachother and one person hits and the other gets a headshot, thereby winning. A good sniper duel is where both of you are out there looking for eachother, but when you finally get your guy, you don't have to be quick. You have your crosshair settled on his head, he has no idea, and you wait just a moment, and just a moment longer, and then, bang.

Countersniping is best.
I know my sniper stats (actually, any of my stats) aren't impressive, but that's because I got too close... (i.e. trying to take OP's...)
I LOVE sniper.v.sniper duels. I had one in Mashtuur, me US with M24 behind one of the poles at Mosque, three MEC guys with M95s (or maybe two snipers with a medic...I'll never know...) on the roof and completely blew them away.
They never got a headshot on me with their sniper rifles I don't think. We kept on dueling until one got sick of me, came up in a tank, and killed me...
Of course, now, they could own me with the L96A1.

not in all situations...especially playing Karkand you'll leave them for dead i think in my opinion on almost any part of that map...<{SoE}>Agamemnar wrote:

Now just to hijack this thread I ask: what is your accuracy with a sniper rifle? Mine is 45% and growing.

Yes it is, try it in single shot, its stunningly accurate I have outsniped snipers many times now since 1.2 came in.CrazeD wrote:

you guys are dorks....like this is real life or something
I use two methods of sniping.
I am the sniper that will find enemy snipers and sight/kill them so our infantry on the ground doesn't have to worry about them.
I am also the sniper that will kill you if you ever try cap a flag with a chopper or steal one of our team's vehicles (chopper/plane/jeep)

Untill I get the new sniper I will be using my trusty PKM to snipe down target in order to give suport to my friends also because it got those handy ammo bags so I will never run out of ammo and I will have a good weapons againts enemies that gets to close to me. Though sometimes I have rushed and killed 4-5 people in a row then get shot down by someone. But then NONE of my friends are close so I just stay away from the flag which will soon or later get a Artellery on it by our commander.
I also rack up a lot of kills by doing it because they usually never find me untill I have killed about 10+ people.
But when I find the new sniper I'm using it no matter what and on Karkand I can be quite deadly.
Also my accuracy is this with sniper. 47.45%
I got much lower with PKM due to that I like to spray with it from time to time. XD A bad habit of mine.
I also have sniped down A LOT of people with PKM, specially some snipers at USMC start point where they usually lie.

Whenever I snipe, which isn't often, I usaully work like a sqaud based sharpshooter. Even though my mortality rate is a bit higher, opportunities for kills with all the snipers weapons is high. I find this works best a with semi-auto rifle.
I am usually a little of both counter-sniper, defensive sniper and long-range assault sniper... And my accuracy with that is 54.43% and rising.
Yeah, definately full of it he is:) a 20 headshots, 10 claymore and 5 pistol kills before i die sniperEvilMonkeySlayer wrote:

Mantis, good to see you lad. Good to see your still working on that 2nd account. After we last talked in posts I pretty much stopped my 2nd http://bf2s.com/player/GDC%5DShinfayne/ and had to keep going on my 1st...was too close to #1 not to:) Isn't it amazing how the first few months really put a hurtin on our scoped stats:(
Snipedya14, welcome to the scope club then, there's a few of us out here. Last 2 months I've been working in pairs with my mate http://bf2s.com/player/books_dcdf/ hes another club founder I'd say.
Mantis/Death as always I share the same philosophy for "what kind of sniper are you" , however I usually like it when they spot me, just more kills. I do reposistion when they get within frag range:)
*edit* I COULDN'T agree more about EARNING the expert. I refused to use anything but my scope and a max of 3 clays....hell took me until December to get it:)

i usally just lurk around on a map kill a few poeple then move to a new spot and i enjoy counter sniping alot it get really hardcore. i like counter sniping more than a full on firefight becasue counter snipeing take skill and brains
Stealth is the way to go. I find it rewarding, even if it is just 1 kill after crawling to my hidden spots.
