Well I find it strange that you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't even know what spark plugs are? Unless something is lost in the way you say things where you are from and the way I say things where I am from. If you are talking about glow plugs, as in a diesel, then you are sort of right, but if you are talking about spark plugs, you are dead wrong.

Then we must have been speaking about different plugs

I suppose, but even so, you apparently don't know what can cause an engine to seize. I would think working with "lorrys" you would definately know that.

On the other hand, alot of things can get a engine to seize up.

Not really, it is pretty much just running it out of oil that can cause it to actually seize, unless once again you are just talking about it not running as opposed to physically not being able to turn it over because the pistons are fused to the cylinder walls.

If the pistons are actually melted, then you might aswell throw your engine away. The tasks of oil are :
Lubricating
Cooling
Sealing
Cleaning
Silence Noise

Yeah I agree with that, but that is what causes an engine to seize, when the pistons overheat and melt to the walls of the cylinder. Unless you have a car that has sat for years and not been run, then it might just be rusty.

silence noise?

oil also functions as a hydraulic medium.

in case you're ever tested.

dude, clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. if you threw a screwdriver into the piston, it would seize. it would seize if you welded it shut too! or if superman came in with his laser vision and was all like "pshhah psshah!"

/sarcasm.

check your spark plugs. i bet they're all gunky and shit.

@whoever posted the ford thing: shut the fuck up. ford has really cleaned up their act recently. besides, its just plain stupid and immature.

I am having problems with my truck. I am not new to mechanics and what not but I just cant figure this out. First of all my truck is a 1986 Ford Ranger standard transmission. The problem is that when I am driving sometimes the truck well begin to sputter and sometimes stall. It well do this in any gear just randomly". It feels like its not getting any gas but I am almost 100% sure that this is not the problem. Any one have any ideas?
Sometimes as in a couple times a day or more like a couple times a month?

Check to see if the throttle body is dirty and gunked up, clean it out if it is.
Change the fuel filter.
Change pvc valve.
Make sure your MAF isn't dirty
Use a can of sea foam. Read the directions on back
All the shit listed above should cost you less than $20 and should help eliminate some possibility's.
Since it only does it sometimes and not all the time, it's probably not clogged intake ports.
Possibly the fuel pump might be going bad.
or maybe the IAC is acting up?
if you notice no change in anything, it might be electrical, good luck with that..

Funny watching all the people argue about how they think they know about cars when a thread like this comes up lol

If it was a dead cylinder I doubt the truck would even start.

This thread went from boring to hilarious really fast

After watching war of the worlds I think I am a competent internet mechanic too. Try replacing the solenoid.
