Just wondering why people dont like being a part of a clan ?

Personally I am in a clan but Im curious to know why a lot of players dont want any part of one. People that have never been in one may love it if they try it. I did and in doing that I have met some of the best friends I ever had, Its also about learning or helping others in need.

Maybe its because they want to know the people they are playing with in real life and not every clan meets for a BBQ or something like that.
I think a lot of people are playing with their friends as they would do with clanmates, although this is not an "official" clan.

Also some people perceive clans to be "elite" or "hardcore" and this image intimidates casual and average players.  Or clans have a negative reputation from the few bad clan players who habitually TK for vehicles/whore commader/etc, and a lot of players don't want to be associated with that image.

Personally most clans are made up of cool players.  Some take the game seriously, some are in it just for fun and friends...a quick look at my stats (and the other members named on my sig) will show you my clan is far from being 1337 pwnzors.  We clanned up for fun so that we could enjoy BF2 together...positive K/D is nice, but absolutely not necessary.

I used to play in a TFC clan for more than 4 years and I really enjoyed it. However, with university, a job and a bunch of other tasks at hand I simply do not have the time, to play in a clan anymore. 2-3 trainings or clanwars each week and sometimes a lot of stress with other clans or clanintern 'problems' are just something I dont have the time for anymore.

My friends and mine wear a clan tag but that's just out of pure fun and not to indicate that we are all a 'real clan' we just live close to each other and play together... if I only was younger and still in school... all the freetime... *coughes* but well

Bad points:
Most of the time clans are so much drama... And most of them never last.

Good points:
Clans will help you're stats. If you're luckey, you can meet some real funny people. But sooner or later you will never here from them agen.

I dont take clans serously.

Been in 4 clans in my life, and to join one agen, it would have to be a real sewwt clan...

[TBAG] is our "clan", we're not that good.  We are a bunch of guys in the Air Force that work in the same shop, "EGRESS BABY!!" (ejection seat mechanics for the F-16).  The tag stands for Team Aviano Battlefield Gamers, but it's really our tag because we like to t-bag people after we kill them, you know, crouch over their face so they get a good screen shot of our sacks... I came up for the acronym after we made the clan.  We spend about 70 percent of our workday talking about battlefield, even when we're doing explosive maintanence.  Kinda funny, but other people in our shop get pissed off when we hog the computer to check out our stats.   Yea, BF2S doesn't work on our shop computers anymore because COM squadron noticed that we spent way too much time on the site and blocked it.  But anyways... if you get killed TBAG, guy, expect to see some nut sack!!!!!

I used to play AA a lot. But never done the whole clan thing. I guess theres a certain mystery around them. Newer players assume there not good enough to be in a clan. A lot probably dont want to ask to join one, but would rather be head hunted if u like.

BF2 is not my primary online game, so from my pov, i dont really have the time to dedicate to a clan. Im in a clan if u like on my main game. And providng ur in a good one, it can be great fun.
We meet up sometimes, all over the world. As our players are worldwide. Most recent ones were Amsterdam,Blackpool and London in April. Was one in Miami last year, and another next year iirc.

I was in a few clans over the years . Most of the time if you don't show up for practice you get shit on and bitched at and your E-mail is full of threats that you will be kicked if you if don't show up again . Team speak has become annoying anymore . Besides sooner or later the clan will fall apart or some guy on your team will get all pissy and TK your clan members to death , this that and the other reason - clans are gay .

Yeah, that's what I do with my friends, and so we decided to tag up as a sort of signifier that we were a group, while not being an official clan as such.

Incidentally, I feel pain for everyone who didn't know that clan tags were going to be added, and signed up with clan tags in their main ID and are now stuck that way.

To me, BF2 is meant to be a pubbing game.  That means clans aren't necessary, since you can just meet up with friends and have fun without making it too serious.  To me, a clan is a group of players that plays in an organized competition, such as TWL or CAL.  I'm part of a TWL BF2 clan, but to me, the matches aren't very fun, ESPECIALLY the 5v5 all-infantry ladder, which is just full of noob tubers.

Why be in a clan if all you're going to do is pub?

I wouldnt be against being in a clan, But there are some things i dont care about.

Some clans say come along and join "make"  friends no offense to anyone but if i want to make friends ill get off this damn computer. I dont mean that to sound as harsh as it does though.

Application Forms, trial period, contibute to the forums 3 times a week... Are you fucking kidding me. Its a game. Not a job.

I would join a clan that wasnt part of competitions, but just a group of people that if we played on the same server we would team up. Also that wouldnt care wether i chose to not  use VoIP or teamspeak. So if there are any aussie clans that fit this description.

However the question was why do you want to be clanless and Capt Kefra has the right points sort of.

I am in a clan, and joined for the prospect of playing as a group, however I have had major problems running BF2 and teamspeak together.  The only thing that I can figure out is that I run wireless and it can not handle it, so unless I want to attach myself to a wall I can not use my teamspeak.  Due to the nature of my job being connected to a wall just isn't feasable.  Also, some clans put stipulations on how much you have to play and when you have to play......some of us have a life you know and can't play for 6-10 hours a day.  I am lucky to get 2-3 if I stay up with the owls.
I have played on servers where members of a clan play as a squad and have seen them kick some serious ass, and then I have seen the ones in a squad that do their own thing.    My best advice is find a good clan that fits your personality and the time that you have to play and go for it.

It depends on the game for me really, some games I just dont want to get into a clan as i will start to take it too seriously i become quite competitive when i play on a ladder. Im not in a clan in BF2 as i never see european clans on the recruitment pages on here and i dont really know any that well ingame

It seems silly to ask me why I wouldn't want to be in a clan, when most people would ask why you would want to be in a clan.

After all, clan's require you to attend matches.  You must keep the image of the clan clean (so no fun games where you can do silly stuff).  You have to wear some daft tag in your name full of + signs, dashes and = signs.  You're automatically assumed to be someone who spends too much time online.

What benefits do you get from being in a clan?

I don't like the feeling of being chained to that Prefix. Feels like im selling my name out to a clan.

I've been in *=SAS=* for over 6 months, and they have been up for 2 years.. we're a close group, only know some people personally, but it doesnt matter.. if you get on ts and talk to these guys, it's like you've known them for a while. We have people all over the world, USA, Canada, Australia, England, New Zealand, France, etc..

So, i  really don't know why people wouldn't want to be in clans.. you'll have people to back you up on the battlefield, instead of running around being a lone wolf..

I am a member of the largest clan out there, the Lonewolf clan.  You can tell who we are by the empty prefix in front of our names.........long live the Lonewolves.

1st benefit is meeting people all over the world and when you want to go on vacation they invite you over to snatch a free meal and or a cold beer:p

2nd is nothing better then shootin the shit while playing:/

3rd The old phrase that "There is no I in Teamwork" is true therefore helping your stats

4th We play for the fun of it anyway,no requirements for matchs which brings up that we just dropped out of the world tournement due to lack of interest by clanmates.

Lastly we do play other games online such as BF2,Allied Assault,COD2,Nascar Sim Racing and WOW as well as a few others

Its can be fun or drama depending on how YOU make it

Oh this is an easy question to answer ... there are three reasons I am not part of a clan

(1)  The biggest reason is that I feel I spend too much time already in BF2 ... I need to spend more time developing my relationships with friends, family, and others who are in my "real" life.  If I were to join a clan, I know that I would become more absorbed in this stuff, and that isn't the best use of my time.  (By the way, my roster of relationships is full ... though I understand friends can be made through clans, I don't need new relationships in my life.)

(2)  I'm not that good .... I would want to be a contributor to a team, not a problem for them.  The only use I might be for a team is if they need to have a day of target practice.

(3)  If I were to ever be part of a clan, it would be with existing, real friends who just want to play together ... not strangers who live around the world.  I already do this from time to time, but we don't have a tag ... we just form a squad and go.
