pretty sad... there is no excuse for this... Why is it harder to do the right thing then abuse the system like these people do?

Obama has nothing to do with state welfare true enough but this isn't just a Massachusetts problem either.

oh, I read the title and thought the US congress must of gave themselves another raise.
It's the idea that they have a family. It's money for thier children to be taken care of. Getting them to not blow thier welfare on drugs is another matter altogether.
It is fucked up that they are getting money, but it's not like the intent is to go ONLY to the criminal. It probably has to do with the fact that a petty criminal will go to jail, and the kids will become under state supervision... which means a waste of goverment money and time. Plus, there is the police, which has little to do with the welfare program.
So it's across government institutions, which we all know have GRRRREAT communication. The Welfare system, and most other people know, most small time criminals get slaps on the wrist, due to a full prison system, so they'll be right back anyway.
Not like that the government DOESN'T wastes time and money, but I bet that is along the lines that this is happening.
It's as so clear as its portrayed. This is merely one aspect of a much larger and much more flawed system, or group of systems in our government.
