I need to reinstall 2142 to revert to 1.4 (1.5 is empty). Just one problem...

I always get stuck here, then it tells me it could not install, and i should try again. I highly doubt that it's scratches; i just reinstalled BF2 with 3 discs that were far worse off than the single DVD, which is nearly scratchless. I also deleted everything that had to do with the game, through the uninstall program and through my computer. Don't say this belongs in the 2142 section, that place is so dead i don't even expect a response.

If you're sure that it isn't the scratches doing it, boot into safe-mode and install it there.

Try to copy the content of the disk to a folder on your hardrive and install it from there.

Do you have a torrent downloader? I'd recommend uTorrent. I can link you to a 2142 image and show you how to install it. Once installed, don't use any crack and use your own CD key on your 2142 box and then whenever you want to play, assuming 2142 needs a CD to run, just pop the CD in.

Wow, as much as i absolutely despise EA in almost every aspect, i can thank them for letting me download the game via their service since i had registered it to my account.

Problem solved by the looks of it.
