OK, I am looking to make some extra cash this summer. Only real jobs available to me, since I am a student, are cleaning or baby sitting. Trying for dog walking and stuff, but there aren't enough lazy bums out there. Anyway, so here is my idea:
I'm looking into doing small tours through Vienna with this hook: See Vienna through the eyes of a local American. I've been here for a while and I know the city really well, just need to brush up on my history. Mostly the groups I would take out would number from 2-5 people (families and couples, you know?) that are already here. Just patrol the local tourist spots and hand out fliers to the English speaking tourists (British, Aussie, American, etc.).
Maybe charge €10 an hour? Make it cheap so that way I can get people to call me and then maybe raise it later on? Not sure on the fee side of it yet.
Beyond fliers, I don't know how to get the word out. Tried tourist websites, but they all blatantly say no advertising. Hotels letting me leave fliers on the front desk? A possibility, though I'm not banking on it.
But what do you guys think of this idea? Anyone have things to add, maybe make it better? Critique? Anything? Please keep the flames to a minimum, though, guys.
