Now with all the bickering about the PKM can do this...snipers can do that rubbish I just want to know everyones view they take up on this...who hear would belives that cruising round with a sweet ass ground pounding PKM is far more superior as opposed to running around with a 50 cal bb gun...and yes it just seems like that at times when you keep hitting something and they just dont want to die!!!

the PKM is to powewrfull not wenn one person is useing it but wenn like a group of 6 is yousing them and there together then its a miracel if you survive
yea though if uve got a group of snipers on ur ass you can just bunny hop your ass out of there to a safe corner

Pkm for sniping. Just played sharqi and i never laughed so much at how well i was doing using the pkm as a sniper rifle.
I went on top of the crane and started sniping down on enemy flag, their guys dropped so fast. But that wasnt the best part. When guys i killed respawned as sniper to get me, i just took cover and started lobbing grenades over the edge and since its support i kept at it for a bout 2mins with the infinite supply of nades. While looking at the bottom left of the screen, watching the numbers of unfortuante victims rising.
By the end of my adventure, i got about 30 kills in the space of 7/8 mins. I suggest some of you to give it a go

i now like the assult class better then spec opps. the pkm and sniper is better now but my style that i learned uses assult.
i walk around and go kill people with bursts unsighted standing up and if i feel chalanged i walk around oddly so they cant hit me and i shoot them in the face.

The only way to settle this debate is to have a one-on-one Sniper/Support duel.
I havn't actually noticed the sniping being any easier, I just shoot folks like I always do. As for support and the PKM, it's great to be effective now. It used to be that a guy not to far away had a better chance of knifing you than you had of shooting him.
Yeah, I'm seeing more support soldiers now, but it's not bothering me. They normally take up about 10-15% of the server's population and I don't think that's too bad.
And yeah, what's with Spec Ops? I feel they've been greatly weakned. Oh well, I'll deal with that and get used to it.

and on-topic just becuz the pkm is at an all new brutal level doesnt mean u have to exploit it... the pkm wasnt meant to be a sniper rifle so theres no need in turning into a gay pkm-sniper only to make a longer range battle...
but i for the most part ignore snipers cuz they generally suck(no offense to sucky gay snipers) i like close battles, you can find me near the biggest group of enemies. dont get me wrong tho, ill switch to sniper if need be and eliminate the problem... and a pkm dies easy by a m16 no scope

- Snipers are superior long range for picking out targets who are not sillouted, due to thier scopes.
- If Support can find your stationary outline against the sky, you are as good as dead
- Support can't effectivly hit someone who is under cover, snipers have no problem killing these targets
- Snipers have claymores, which can kill many people if used consistantly in inteligent places, even smart opponents won't be able to avoid them all the time.
- Snipers short range have a serious disadvantage, even when using a SVD
- Short and mid ranges against moving targets, support rips them apart hands down.
Both have thier benifits, personally I love ripping apart an entire squad with support, but it is comparable to the sheer humor of placing a claymore in the same place over and over and have someone run into it every time. If it wasn't for the claymores, snipers would be overlooked 90% of the time. IMHO a well played support/sniper combo is one of the most powerful in the game atm. Unlimtied claymores is $$.

I'd say the PKm is now better for sniping than the SVD/Type 88. However,t he long range rifles still rule. I'd like to see the PKM snipe people off the TV station from the construction site, or hit someone from the other end of an airstrip.

I love the m24 and the pkm, both have their merits, afterall, I got vet combat with both of them.
yeah i jsut played a whole round with suppport and i pwned like never before i got 66 kills 20 teampoints and like 20 deaths got in first place altough the PKM is almost a sniper the only thing bad is the long reload time but its like a far superior sniper rifle
Sounds like you guys are just bad with the sniper rifle so you use the pkm instead and then say it's superior because it's easier to use effectively. Now where'd my flamesuit go...
It is true that the PKM is a great weapon now, but the sniper rifle still has its place. The PKM rules the "run and gun" slaughter style, but the sniper remains firmly ruling in that hated, "concealed marksman" type of gameplay.
A sniper takes out high-priority targets, denies areas to the enemy, and makes the enemy generally nervous. Support takes out all infantry in sight. Choose your style.

I really like sniping, at medium long range; I find it to be easier to get headshots now (with the M95 and M24 being improved, not even counting L96 OWNAGE) I've noticed that with an M24 and M95, it's a good idea to let the sights 'settle' or they won't hit as often, but with the L96 I often fire snapshots and BOOM HEADSHOT
I like to PKM snipe at close - medium range because it only takes 3-4% of your bullets to kill them instead of 20-40% and you fire 3x as fast at least. at even closer ranges burst mode with the MG36 is rockin.

On topic, sniping beats out PKM at 50-60+ meters. Within that, If he's not a good shot he might as well toss his gun down.

just because there are four times the amount of newbie snipers in the game now doesn't mean that anyone with even mediocre talents can't own somebody with a PKM 99% of the time still.
