A US car dealer says sales have soared since he started offering a free handgun or a petrol card with every purchase.

I think this is pretty funny, but realise that Americans love their gunz, so who am I to judge.

Anyway if any gun loving Americans want to get angry, please check the comments section at the bottom of the article.

It is probably worth noting that the Courier mail is far from a left wing /liberal newspaper in Australia.

I think it should be mentioned here that it isn't any old felon that gets the handgun, they do ahve to pass a background check first. in that case, i think it' fine. if he was giving it to absolutely everyone regardless of criminal historr, i'd criticise, but as he's only giving the guns to law-abiding people, it's fine.

Yeah I am sorry if I came across as anti gun or anything . Thats not really what I was aiming for. Its just the article is something that most people outside of America would find kinda funny. My neighbour owns rifles and is a top bloke so I really dont have a problem with Responsible gun ownership.

no problem, I was just saying that to head off the anti-gun nuts that would say he was giving guns to convicted murderers or similar (I like to shoot off an air rifle myself at targets when i can)

It's more of a mind set sort of thing. You have the right to arms, and, rightly so, they dont want there rights being taken away. To be honest though I think its more a case of that than actually liking guns. But hey, if you are going to kill someone, you will find a way anyways.
