Great. What is the world coming to when I actually agree with sergeriver?sergeriver wrote:
Children as young as six are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and aid workers, says a leading UK charity. Children in post-conflict areas are being abused by the very people drafted into such zones to help look after them, says Save the Children. The most shocking aspect of this abuse is that most of it goes unreported and unpunished, a new report argues, with children too scared to speak out.
Pls kill those fuckers now, and shut the UN down, it's a worthless organization.
Yes, clearly this demonstrates that the UN is fundamentally flawed, rather than needing to better scrutinise who it uses.
Not saying the UN isn't fundamentally flawed, just fail to see how this is evidence.

Do you need evidence:ZombieVampire! wrote:

-60 years of Israel-Palestine conflict unsolved.
-Genocide, civil war and starvation all over Africa.
-And the fucking peacekeepers abusing kids.
What a delight, isn't it?

That's a quote off Hotel Rwanda. Watch it.
I watched the movie, and I was addressing Zombie about the Un not the peacekeepers.jord wrote:

Aren't certain veto-rights interfering with a solution from the side of the UN in that case? And if/when that in fact is the case, there is a flaw with the system, not the motive. The UN has made a shitload of resolutions condemning Israeli action. The system needs an overhaul.sergeriver wrote:

On topic: It's awful to see something like that happen. If you can't trust the UN, one might as well throw in the towel. But these are individuals that are on the UN payroll, I'll grant you that, but they hardly represent the UN and its values.
Please. You can't blame the UN for having bad seeds employed. Singular cases are singular cases, and regardless of how high this thing goes (some people that are in a position to take action had to know something, yet failed to do so, and hence were involved), this thing should be treated as a military crime prosecuting the individuals responsible (all of them), not the organisation.sergeriver wrote:

..or do you hold a secret UN-document that clearly states that one of its main missions is to create hatred towards them through sexual abuse of children?
I need around tree fiddy.
Eh, unless the UN's management is changed completely it will never be of any use. The way we have it right now, any important condemnation is just Vetoed. Russia, the USA and China all have Veto rights - that can't end well.
Mind you, I disagree with disbanding it unless something is done about the above stated. But either way, this case is hardly the reason why it should be disbanded, as I feel it has little to nothing to do with the actual UN.

Yes, the system is flawed. And these fuckers do represent the UN since as you said they are on its payroll. When you hire an employee, that person will represent your company.DonFck wrote:

The UN is responsible for sending this kind of sick bastards to help people in need.DonFck wrote:

Agreed. The veto in the Security Council is a joke and it's the main cause that makes the UN fail big time on every issue.konfusion wrote:

Having said that, the UN was never intended to do internal policing, but rather prevent external conflict.
I said they were a worthless organization, pretty much coz of the above. Provide an example of the UN helping to achieve anything at all. And they are meant to solve the Israsel-Palestine conflict, or the genocides of Africa.ZombieVampire! wrote:

No, actually, their aim since inception was to prevent another world war. Intervening in internal issues was added later (IMHO foolishly).
