Samsung’s OLED Laptop vs. MacBook Air

This concept laptop sports a 12.1in AMOLED display with a 1280 x 768 resolution and a cool – although not sure how functional – touch-sensitive keyboard. As you can see it's very thin indeed and would probably make even the anorexic MacBook Air look fat.

There’s not a lot of detail as to what’s under the hood but you can probably bank on a solid state drive (SSD).

Although this is not in production, Samsung is planning to launch laptops using OLED displays up to 15.5in in size from next year.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

That thing looks damn ugly against the Air, frankly. Also - if that is an OLED keyboard I hope you have strong finger tips...try tapping the desk for 30 seconds - it gets painful.

Edit: also, look at the screen border. If there is one thing I hate it is screen borders that are thick (irony as my DELL one is). Apple, NEC and EIZO all make nice thin borders, whereas Samsung have taken on the opposite approach in their, now ugly to me, Pebble range. New DELLs seem to have thin borders, which is nice. The MBA border is really nice and thin, and I love the feel to it. It's just so much nicer than anything out there - but its price is sky high.

No, the idea is to not have strong fingertips. While keyboards have a small amount of shock absorption, you have to forcefully press the keys down. With a touch system, or any other non moving recognition system, you don't have to apply any force at all.

That, and since you don't have to move the keys in a direction interfering with it's neighbors, you'll mistype less.

i have a laptop keyboard for pc, with those really small distance between the keys and when you meet resistance, and it is challenging at first, as i switch between 2 pcs, the other has a normal keyboard with normal keys and quite large distance between.

so it gets harder as sometimes on the other you press really lightly and it doesn't record.

Not really, keys are in the same place, not much difference in actualy typing. Though I did learn on a normal keyboard, the change didn't take long to get used to, but I haven't used a touch keyboard for about 2 years now so I'd imagine I'd be rusty.
