I'm in the middle of a thunder storm right now, if you guys can correctly guess when my power will go out and ruin my computer and all my electronics I will award you with a week of karma. I will NOT take into account different time zones, change for me. If the power doesn't go out then there will be some sort of other guessing game, I will decide then.

If you guys had a third pin like we do, you wouldn't experience as many surges and shit. Or would you? It seems that the electrical surge is more common in the US&A than in the UK

when the power goes off in my house, you can actually hear it go from a slightly high pitch in diminuendo, to completely silent, all within the space of about a second. cool sound.

FIOS runs on battery backups (tx Verizon). Just make sure your laptop is charged.

I have a desktop and almost all my phones are cordless, so I have to either use my cell phone or the one corded phone. Once I get to a phone though, I complain to Pepco's power outage line until I get an estimated power restoration time.

I tried tethering to my cell phone once.. it was horrible. My carrier sucks when it comes to the internet.
