Is it from one side of the circle to the other or one edge of the square to the other?

I'm finally gonna do something about this noisy stock piece of shit one.

Get one end of the tape measure and then find the length of it. It should be pretty obvious as they come in sizes of 120mm, 80mm etc..

I mean from where do I measure?  Diagonally from edge to edge of the square?  Or do I measure across the circle?

I'm measuring a case fan btw.

I think it is the outside of the squares, but like he said, it will be obvious because it will be 80, 120, etc...

Exactly, and the length should be (40mm, 50mm, 60mm,) 80mm, 92mm, or 120mm

I believe it's 80mm.  It's using a 5-pin plug on the motherboard to power itself.  I wonder if Newegg even has that or if it's just another ingenious Dell proprietary idea.

Now I'm fairly sure they're something proprietary: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling/16 … n-fan.html

Guess I better buy a converter and get a different fan because they say you shouldn't be trying to power something like that through the motherboard.

You are aware of how loud those fans are aren't you?

I've never seen a five pin connector.  I've seen 4-pin, like new CPUs use, but never a 5-pin.  Also, the 4-pin connectors usually still accept a 3-pin fan, you just don't have speed control.  That extra pin just controls fan speed so it can speed up/down as temps require.

Yes, all too much, which is why I am probably going to have to get a 5.25 fan controller panel that hooks into a different kind of fan.

Dell proprietary is a nightmare If you know how to strip cables its possible to get a molex to work but it's fiddly and risky
