Hi all, I thought I might post a new topic about what books you have read or suggest others read to help them to play both Battlefield and other War strategy based games. I find that sometimes just a little bit of reading can help to drastically change your attitudes but also helps to get kick ass scores. I you play the Civ games then you really should read number 1 at least.
1. "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. Its about 2,500 years old now and is essentially one of the first ever books on military strategy. Its not the be all end all guide to strategy(they didn’t have arty or air power back then), but it has some wonderful chapters on motivation and attitude. These can be very important for commanders and squad leaders. It also lays out some very simple ideas that are still valid today. Buy the book and keep it at home. Some of the lessons on attitude can also extend out into your real life.

2. "Tactics of the Crescent Moon" by John H Poole. Great new book that outlines some of the small arms tactics that have been used by partisan and rebel fighters in modern conflicts. It is also a fascinating read on insurrectionist tactics and modern guerrilla warfare. It also covers the basics of terrorism and why we have moved into 4th generational warfare.
3. "On War" Carl von Clausewitz. This is a must read for any serious armchair general. This is one of the more famous texts on military thinking and uses. Written during some of the bloodiest of the European Wars(think Napoleon) it is important both as a tactical manual but also as a introduction on "Why we fight" as Clausewitz's definition of war is still referred to today.

Buy a book, have a read, and improve your game. I strongly suggest the top two for anyone new to computer gaming or who really wants to improve their strategy gaming.
