So I had my computer on, like every other day, listening to some music, then all the sudden a cap that holds the North Bridge Heatsink on flew off with a loud crackle, freezing my PC.. Furthermore, I got electrical tape to temporarily hold it together, I have enough pressure to make use of the heatsink, while closely monitoring the temps (Although auto-shutdown should prevent such bad case)

I've already requested for replacement caps for the Northbridge heatsink from Gigabyte.

Now, the question is, will this hold (Without any permanent damage done) until the caps arrive, and replacement caps can be installed?

Thanks ahead.

it might or might not.  i'd keep watching the temps as you've been doing just to make sure.

I would use it, but keep a close watch on the temps.

I guess I can look at it this way, my computer hasn't been locking up since i secured enough electrical tape on the heatsink, pulling it toward the NB..
