TO NORTH AMERICANS ONLY--anyone else here drive manual?

Manual is the best IMO. I prefer to have more control over the transmission, it's more enjoyable for driving, and I like that it last longer than the automatic equivalent.

170,000 miles on my '96 ford ranger and the tranny/clutch performs like the first day I got it.

I'm a cool euro and I drive automatic. Mainly because my car (BMW E92 330xi) comes standard with an automatic transmission. Then again BMW trannies are great and shift quickly. Merc's on the other hand sucks donkey shlong

EDIT: I can drive stick no problem. Learned it when I was still a kid

We has two licenses, dumbarse retard Automatic license, and I can move my arms in different directions manual license (which also includes auto).

At 22 we get our full licenses which allow us to drive both regardless.

In England you're definitely ridiculed if you pass your test in an automatic (if you pass in an automatic you can only drive automatics), and again if you try and drive one.

Manual is the only way to go.

most "premium" autos are also bad. Whenever I drive my dads Merc C350 4matic with the 7 gear auto I wish I had a manual. That thing has bad and unpredictable shift points (the only way to get that thing to shit down is to do a kick-down wtf srsly?) and when it actually does shift, the whole car jutters along like when I learned to drive stick. That thing either does 1000 RPM or 6000RPM. Nearly impossible to drive it around 2-4k. The "manual shifting" mode is just a joke. Fucking terrible. Hell my moms X5 with a diesel engine is a nicer and more dynamic drive than that thing.

I love the ZF transmissions in the BMWs though. They shift exactly when you would shift with a manual and even do it lightning fast.
