i like bf2 gameplay and wish they would just update the gfx and fix the bugs. the only game that has held my attention since 2005 is bf2. even though it's the same maps, etc - it's still fun and you get new people playing all the time. i am learning new things every time i play. that keeps it entertaining and a draw for me.
2142 is really cool too but i felt that the lack of IO option was a downer. i really enjoy IO since it's more of an equalizer on the field. plus, you can practice more tactical assaults, etc. yes, it's a nade fest on some servers but honestly i only find this to be the case on the 64 player with 64 players karkand maps in bf2 - i guess i'm lucky.
i've seen the game demo of the frostbite engine that runs bad company and it looks really nice.
it would be great if they could just give out a solid game engine and have a service that distributes new content once per month or something. i'd gladly pay a few bucks every month to get new maps, unlocks, etc. how about you guys?

Well, with all the mods for bf2 and the experts out there, is there not some way for the private sector (Coders, modders) to FIX BF2 itself, by themselves?

Bad company will probably be pretty cool, and if its anything like BF2142 and how it kept me interested even until the top rank, I know I will continue to play it. BF2142 was, and still is, da bomb. The unlocks, I thought, were really useful and you got a since of pride earning them. I always liked debating which unlock to choose next.
