AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Kingston RAM - 4GB
Asus M2N-E SLI MB
320 GB WD HDD
500 GB External HDD

you really don't need anything your setup seems nice. If you want you can go quad core or upgrade your graphics. Or buy a nice 22' monitor.

Currently got a 19' That cost me around $200 So I'm pretty happy with what I've got, I love 1280 x 1024 So yeah .

Might go for a new GPU, what do you guys suggest that's in budget?

Besides that, I'd say go for a new mobo + CPU as a whole. Depends on your budget though, and if you only have $300 to spend, there's obviously not more you could do.

For the price, SLI'd 8600GTs actually perform quite well. Some even push over 10k in 3DMark.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
