Its over 5 long years now. Lots of soldiers lost their lives there an no not only US ones. I wish all of them had had left Iraq after they punished Saddams regime. "Weapon of mass destrucion" Yeah so? Where? Time to clear these things too. So all soldiers LEAVE!
And also leaving Afganistan would be a nice thing.
Overthrowing the government and leaving the power in the hands of the remaining terrorists, not organizing a government, or training Iraqi's to keep the situation under control, wonderful strategy!
The war may not be the right thing, but I assure you leaving Iraq in a wreck and saying "Mission Accomplished" will only lead to more people losing their lives and a corrupt government running Iraq and setting them back another 100 years.
Staying in Afghanistan is one thing, but Iraq is a lost cause. It doesn't matter when we leave, because they will fall apart whenever we do it. They will HAVE to go through a civil war eventually, and we're currently just postponing the inevitable. This all might sound pessimistic, but consider the fact that both Iran and Saudi Arabia are contributing to the insurgency. They each have their own factions to support, and Iraq is where Saudi Sunnis and Iranian Shia fight a proxy war through terrorism.
We're stuck in the middle until we leave. There's really no point in staying. We tried and we failed, but part of it is because of Iran and Saudi Arabia. In addition to this, I can't speak too highly of the Iraqi people either when you consider how so many of them join in on the extremism.
All Iraq has shown us is that Islam has a lot of growing up to do.
