The US has officially lost the plot...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7427206.stm

I own one of these scarfs, which I bought as a souvernir in Palestine, as does my brother who bought his in Urban Outfitters. It's a scarf. Perhaps arab countries should ban people wearing suits from adverts in their countries as the people who keep calling for attacks on them are generally wearing suits. This truly is pathetic.

I have a blue one and red one. I bought them when I was for out to the Nevada Desert. Very practical if folded right. A kind American showed me how. It is a neck scarf which can be brought up into a hood when stepping out in the sun.

The blogger, Michelle Malkin, called the garment "a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos".
Here we have the Politically correct brigade. This is crazy even by their standards. In the US it seams you have the Conservative brigade.
Absolutely ridiculous, that a blogger and a small majority can alienate Muslim and any right thinking person with this kind of shit. Maybe we should ban ray bands next. I seen a terrorist wearing a pair the other day on TV! I think the IDF issue them as standard.

I've noticed terrorists tend to have two eyes, and a nose RIGHT in the MIDDLE of their FACES!
OMG Kill them all!

Its part of the process of demonising all Palestinians and all moslems as terrorists.

Notice the close cut hair, the beady piggish eyes, black beret, green uniform, shiny buttons.
If you see one of these call 911 immediately.

I'm seeing more and more people wearing them as a fashion item.  They just look retarded when used for that, TBH.

I have one which I sometimes wear during RAP4 paintball games, depending on whether I'm playing the raghead or not

Dunkin Donuts does not represent 320 million people.

Michelle does have a point here though:
My syndicated column today examines the keffiyeh kerfuffle with Dunkin’ Donuts and Rachael Ray that I noted on the blog last week. As you’ll recall, I linked  to an item by LGF’s Charles Johnson about the scarf she wore in a recent Dunkin’ ad. Keffiyeh chic has been covered on this site and at Hot Air extensively (see here, here, and here). Anti-American fashion designers abroad and at home have mainstreamed and adapted the scarves as generic pro-Palestinian jihad or anti-war statements. Yet many folks out there remain completely oblivious to the apparel’s violent symbolism and anti-Israel overtones. Left-wing bloggers responded with complete scorn, deliberate mischaracterizations of the debate, and then outrage when Dunkin’ Donuts commendably showed sensitivity to the concerns and pulled the ad. The Boston Globe accused me of “yowling.” If you actually read my post  and the column below, you’ll see no such thing.

It’s interesting how much ire the Left shows when we civilly raise pointed questions about the power of insidious symbols. These are the same folks who have nothing to say when zealots on their side of the ideological aisle go about tearing down crosses and throwing tantrums over the symbols they abhor.
The really funny part is that it was actually the left leaning NYT that first pointed out the connection.

hmmm not anymore:
The same day Urban Outfitters, which had offered the scarves in several color combinations for $20, pulled them from stores. Its Web site posted this explanation: “Due to the sensitive nature of this item, we will no longer offer it for sale. We apologize if we offended anyone, this was by no means our intention.” A spokeswoman for the store, which has 95 branches nationwide, declined to comment further.
Ouch!

Here we go again. I personally think that the bbc article has lost the plot and so has this whole thread. Who really cares, this happens every day, everywhere, where companies pull ads due to public and political opinion. Blame the bloggers but its really the fault of Dunkin Donuts succoming to their pressures. But than again, Dunkin Donuts management must have thought it over and come to the conclusion that this ad may hurt profits, so pulled it. Alternatively, they probably and purposly created this ad to get attention, therefore improving profits. What the hell has this got to do with the US losing it (Cam)... If you want to talk about political correctness, I think we can find a few better examples to talk about. Im sorry but I have a hard time caring about topics that get us talking about big business' way of getting us, well to talk about them all day. About bad and bored jouralists who have nothing better to write about, bloggers who dont know shit and playing witch hunt. At the end of the day who really instigated this, Dunkin Donuts? BBC? Bloggers? Cam? Islam? US? We will never really know but we will all choose someone to blame depending on personal bias.
