I was behind a trash truck this morning in the street that stopped for a squirrel in the road.  the squirrel was standing over another squirrel, this one dead, as if it were mourning or something.  It was pretty eerie looking.  for at least 30 seconds, the squirrel would not get out of the way of the trush truck as it just stood over the dead, flattened squirrel.

wonder if squirrels feel loss?

weird

in other news, i saw a crow or something on the highway that looked like half of it was run-over, while the other half was still standing there.

when I first read that post, I completely missed the "R" in crow and began picturing a cow the way you described.

I remember seeing a dead squirrel, Never really seen one up close. They are great creatures... But not when they are dead

Some animals certainly do.  Elephants will pick up and stoke the bones of a deceased elephant.

this one was flat and had its eyes bulging out and there was a trail of blood a few feet long.

I have a squirrel living in my back garden.  His name is Frank.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

They're better dead, otherwise they eat your trash.

Yeah, when animals do things like that you really have to wonder if they really do have emotions similar to ours.
