It looks like Obama's going to have enough to win the DNC nomination, but will it actually happen?

Seems like its possible Clinton may not step down (ps. I have a feeling it's going to be announced she does this on Tuesday anyway), and take her chances with the super delgates at the Convention.  I seriously doubt the super delegates will actually be pulled over within her web, and Obama is likely to win it anyway.

Seems like the only way to solidify the party would to have Obama sign Clinton to be VP, or vice versa.  But, my question is whether Clinton is brazen enough to run as an independent?

Think about it for a second.  Suddenly she can pull votes out of the Dem & Rep parties...McCain will have to defend some of the wavering republican voters.

This isn't a question about who YOU WANT to win.  This is more about what you think is going to happen. 

Clinton's a real wild card.  And I have a real doubt that Clinton's going to be on Obama's ticket.  I think she'd rather sit out of the election (if not running independent) and try again for the Dem nomination in 2012.  Which means if Obama can't placate her, her supporters might not vote for Obama out of spite.  This plays right into McCain's chances.

No I think that Clinton running as an independent would hurt the Democrat vote a hell of a lot more than it would possible Republican votes. She's likely to steal more from Obama and cripple her own party if she takes that course of action.

I don't think she's likely to try as an independent for those reasons, however if she was truly aware of how much damage she can do to her own party she wouldn't still be in the running.

Her as Vice President again I see as a very rough chance, although it does have potential to win a lot of votes. An Obama/Hilary campaign does have potential to pull most voters towards the democrats, and does give a good chance of success.

However Hilary has been her own worst enemy. Her attacks and bitter rivalry with Obama during her nominee race is likely to stop an Obama/Hilary Presidential run, for the simple fact people would want to see a unified Government.

The differences in political stance has been made very public with the Dem nominee race, I think that had she pulled out much sooner - or at least when it looked like Obama and Hilary were not so opposed in many views, an Obama/Clinton race would've made a lot of sense.

Her chief adviser told her she couldn't win this one, but I did read somewhere that she is definetely planning for the 2012 election. To be honest, I can't see her being the VP if Obama becomes President.

From a simple leadership point of view, taking Clinton as VP would just be to grab the few extra votes.  She would be a nightmare to actually work with once the election is won.  You couldn't trust her at all not to grand-stand or thwart solid policy decisions with back-room skullfuckery.  Edwards as VP is more likely, and also a better choice by personality (team player vs. narcissistic twit).  Personally, I'd like to see Clark in the VP spot, but I'm just dreaming.

Obama and Edwards have been sharing the front page on Obama's fan site a few weeks ago (foreshadowing?):

Also, both Edwards and Obama have very similar political outlooks, so in the event of a transition it wouldn't be such a radical shift in government policy.  Switching from an Obama to a Clinton regime, however, might shake a lot of people up.  Also, remember when the last time was that we had an egomaniacal hawk Democrat as VP...just watch those open-topped motorcades...
