Why is it that Sony is only selling a piece of shit 400 U$S PS3 that doesn't read PS2 games and only has 40 gb? I want a PS3 but I ain't getting that piece of crap. Does anyone know if they are releasing a 120/160 gb system?
You can replace the hard drive as far as I know.
I don't know if they'll be releasing bigger HD models.

I have more than 50 PS2 games and I don't want to throw them away. Am I supposed to keep the PS2 next to my PS3?

Simple marketing. They do not want people playing PS2 games anymore similar to how they launched the PS2. I'm getting the 80GB PS3 next week that is 60 percent backwards compatible. You can use any standard HDD with the ps3 so you don't necessary have to wait for a larger one to be released.sergeriver wrote:

You can emulate PS2 games on a PC now meh thinks.
And where are you getting it? I tried with newegg and Electronics Boutique, but they only sell the 40 gb crap.killer21 wrote:

I find it weird that Sony isn't selling the 80 gb system that could read PS2 games. Why doesn't Sony sell a compatible system, like they did with the PS2 and PS? I still have like 60 PS games and I can use them on my PS2..Sup wrote:
I don't see a reason why not. You can't see it for much and you won't notice any graphics difference if you play PS2 games on PS3.sergeriver wrote:

Apparantly, it is a software block. There is no TECHNICAL reason why the 40gb model cant support PS2 games, it's just sony trying to widen the gap between it and the 60GB or that 80GB I cant keep up with there fucking capacities. You may find a firmware for it, I read about a fix but that could be hot water.sergeriver wrote:

I had the 40GB while I was in the UK and I can honestly say I didnt miss my PS2 games. Whenever I did feel like firing one up (quick blast of gran turisimo 4) I hooked up the old PS2, wasnt that big a deal, more of an irritation. At the time the 60GB was £125 premium for a 50% bigger HD (that I replaced with a 250 anyways) and PS2 support. O and those memory card slots.

They have been selling a 60/80 GB model that supports PS2 games but they have stopped producing it. You might still find a shop that sells them.sergeriver wrote:

The 80 gb system was in the market for a short period of time, so I don't trust that system. I'm buying the PS3 coz I always had PS but I don't like the way Sony is doing things now..Sup wrote:

Comes out next Thursday bundled with MGS4. It is only being sold at Gamestop and on the Sony Website.sergeriver wrote:

The later versions had reduced compatibility.Eye-GiZzLe wrote:

Thx, I'll check it. I bought the first series of the PS2 and it's 100% compatible with all my PS games.killer21 wrote:
