I'm actually thinking in context here. Israel was made shortly after WWII, when, guess what, the French were the runt of the victorious side. The losing side might have deserved it, but after looking at how that philosophy went in WWI, that is seen to be not such a good idea. The other allies should have told France to suck it up and take one for the team.

Isn't this the same debate from 60 years ago?  Why don't we just let UK decide again?

And then abandon responsibility and blame other countries for the problem.

We don't exactly have a very salubrious history on the old 'treatment of Jews' front. Not to mention the fact there are less than 1000 Jews here for an overall population of 4 million. I have never seen or met an Irish Jew.

Believe it or not I know two Irish Jews! Well, one is definitely Jewish as I had a big chat with her about Wagner one day and the other guy I know is called Cohen so I'm presuming he's Jewish in some capacity. I actually used to live near the Jewish heritage museum near the Portobello river in Dublin, I remember it got defaced with swastikas a few years back.

In answer to the thread's question I say Germany; they played their hand in WW2 and lost, the Palestinians should not have had to foot the bill.

However, if history had really borne out this teaching, Israel wouldn't have prevailed in 1948, or 1967 or 1973.

Considering their past history, Palestine would be best.  However, in hindsight, I'm thinking that they could have found a better place for them. 

The UN should have gotten together and annexed a section of Mexico for them.  It's a win-win situation.  The excellent land that is being abused and wasted by the corrupt Mexican government would reach its full potential and the Jews would have a very nice place to live.

That last bit was a joke, for all of you humorless out there.

it's interesting that we keep having the same argument about where the jews should be relocated to, yet we never seem to address all the muslim encroachments such as in Darfur, Phillipines, etc.  so do islamists (the muslim version of zionists) get a free pass to kick out the kuffir and establish their 'homelands'?  i don't think that's very fair coverage.  why not have a poll on whether you think the janjaweed are justified in killing/raping/brutalizing people to establish a muslim homeland in africa?  why is this not a double standard?

But we saved France twice. They only saved us once. Therefore, as saving each other cancels outs, France still owes us for one saving.


Although one could be really cynical and see the French involvement in the Revolutionary War as a shrewd investment into future security.
