First of all let me say that I think that if we have a option, we should have a [liveleak][/liveleak] option as well, especially on a 'Battlefield' related forum.

That said, I'd say the guys above are totally nuts, but it does prove a point. It's interesting to see in any case.

Nothing will be added on this forum I would guess, but trackr supports multiple video formats.

Impressive...I'd never do that no matter how much protection I had on, though. That guy's nuts.

I think I've seen something like this on the Military Channel.

just curious, buy why don't our soldiers get better body armor?  Is it not worth the cost to save a life?  and considering the medical costs, it would likely be cheaper in the long run...

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

There are several factors that play into the armor game.

-The better the armor protection is, in general terms, the heavier and bulkier it is.
-The more areas you cover with armor, the more weight you are carrying, and the less maneuverable you are.
-The heavier your armor is, the less carrying capacity you have for other things, like weapon, ammuniton, radios...
-The less maneuverable you are, the less effective you in a combat situation (ducking for cover, running, turning, moving inside buildings).

It is a balance.  Armor is just one of the things a soldier needs.

Define 'better body armour' please,.. I mean yes a 3 inch titanium sheet would probably stop more than anything around, but it would be quite cumbersome.

To my knowledge the Interceptor body armour is pretty decent and as a guy I think the groin protection is a big plus. DragonSkin is claimed to be superior, but I'm rather sceptical about the design and I've never seen a full protection version of it. Which is probably due to not being able to form the curves necessary for it to fit one's neck and limbs. I do believe there was a alternative to kevlar/twaron called zelon/xelon or something but, allthough it outpreformed the standard aramids in weight/protection, the fibers deteriorated too fast.

What I'm very curious about is how the armour of the French FELIN systems preform; they seem to have very good neck and shoulder protection and are said to be very flexible.

It is a balance.  Armor is just one of the things a soldier needs.Something that seems to be forgotten quite often: with most of the conflicts in which western nations are currently involved taking place in arid to extremely arid region, heat and heat dispersion seems to me like a very important issue. The more armour you wear, the warmer it is and the worse the heat dispersion is.
