I saw on the History channel a special on snipers and it said that they can guide laser guided bombs with a pen or something like that. So just bringing that up
Well, there is a laser guidance system, closer to the size of a rifle than a pen, that can guide laser guided munitions (artillrty, rocket, or bomb), provided that the angle is correct. wrong angle, the munition homes on the emitting system instead of the lased target. That would be a COOL special ability for the Spec Ops!
Laseer designator, to guide missiles from jet or helo, or even a special arty button. Use proper angle, round hits what the Spec Ops is lasing. Who gets the kill points and who gets the assist, though?
Nice idea.

Kill points and assist, didn't think about that....probably the guy shooting the missle gets the kill and the sniper or spec ops guy (depending who gets the capability) may get an assist and something extra
think about it, a dumbass puts the laser on teammates
the idea would be nice.... but it would also be a mess in the battlefield. Imagine, bombs falling everywere all the damn time... nice, but not nice. I don't see this one on BF2 any time soon.
you can allready do that if your squad leader and theres a good pilot in your squad
aim a target area whee there a lot of people and order to atack there using T while aiming...a comander can order a jet to bomb enemy assets that way

what i like to do is have a direct link tothe commander who just calls out everything as im flying.
If any of you have played the XBox version, this is a very bad idea because everyone would be a sniper, and you wouldn't be able to go 20 seconds without being painted by a sniper. This shit happens every single round in the XBox version, half the people in the server are usually snipers. This laser designation totally ruined the XBox version for tanks.
lol
Not gonna work. BF2 is mainly pubs, as are most games, and the type of coordination (and for that matter, trust) is not going to be available in a damn pub.
Honestly... who the hell CARES about the XBox version?!_j5689_ wrote:

If this was implamented in the game (and we all know that is a big IF) it should go to the sniper class. Like other people mentioned, you would then have games with only snipers and laser guided bombs. To help cut down on this number, they should make it part of the artty function. Give the commander the option to take out a pile of armor whoring spawn campers instead if using the artty like it is now. It would be up to the commander to decide if what is being lased is a valid target or not and you would not be able to launch so many laser guided bombs that people would lase up infantry using it like a personal rocket launcher. I guess you could compare it slightly to the binocs in BF1942.

The Xbox implementation is bad. You don't have to keep it painted until the bomb hits, just for a few seconds. If you had to keep the laser manually on the target (with no crosshairs), it wouldn't be so bad. But yeah, the xbox one is messed up. you can paint a helicopter for like 5 seconds and then stop painting, but the help will still blow up.
