http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … 2%20System

i've heard great things about the F1 drive. Obviouslythe 1TB is a winner, my question is does it beat 2x Raptors in Raid 0 as that's the only difference
i can see between the two to save £100

any help greatly appreciated with karma

The 900 is probably the ugliest case ever made.

Are you trying to compare HDs?

Give him a better pre-built then.

Opinions are like assholes.....

If you're using this PC primarily for gaming then go for the raptors, as the price increase is very little. But if you need the space then go with the F1(TBH, there won't be a significant difference in regards to their performance).

If I were you, I'd wait another month to see what nvidia's new line up of vid cards will bring. 8800GTX cards are overpriced IMO.

Most of the people that frequent the tech section here would recommend that you build your own. You get better parts and the build is cheaper.

Though not everyone wants to go through that ordeal. It can be a pain in the ass.

I think it's just beautiful.  In fact, I just started using it.  Amazingly cool and pretty quiet.

2 raptors in raid 0 will be quicker. The spinpoint has more space (obviously) and will be more reliable.

If you've got the cash get the one with the raptors and by the spinpoint seperatly as a storage drive.

You could get a much, much, better deal If you just build it yourself. THats nearly 4000 Dollars on a PC...

The fact that they're horribly over priced.

here's a tip, if you care so much about the £100 difference don't get a prebuilt system.

If you spend a couple of hours learning how to build one yourself you'll save a lot more than a 100...

Probably go for the spinpoint yeah. The raptors wouldn't be that much faster anyway, not worth it.

I'm assuming a self build is out of the question?

3 mins work, if I missed anything say so.

EDIT: That'll hit 3.4Ghz+, guaranteed.

Good point. i have a friend whose a wizz with computers, he's very much IT. Hecould help me build one. I'm just worried about getting a whole bunch of components delivered and somethings duff, whereas i can just have them build it,test it and guarantee the mutha.

All of that ok apart from swap the GTX for a GX2.

+ maybe a spinpoint for storage? Still well within his budget.

The fact that my teal text turned red should have given you the hint...

Pics will arrive in due time, after I'm done reinstalling all my programs and overclocking.  Hell, I'm waiting for Prime95 to run stable for 10 minutes while I use the laptop to surf bf2s.

It's virtually impossible to fuck up a self build and if a part is faulty you can have a replacement out in less than a week.

Worth it for about £800 saving lol.

Ya, but it's not pre-built.

If he is capable and willing to built a pc then GG. But some people don't want to mess with the hassles of building their own PC.

Nice work TheEternalPessimist, i appriciate this. is your choice a better deal to be worth taking the plunge?

It's faster and massively cheaper, I'd say so, you could even go nuts and get a second gfx card and batter RAM and still be under the cost of that pre-built.

EDIT: Obviously make sure your friend knows how to overclock.

And if you want more than 3.4Ghz get a 120mm fan for the CPU cooler too.

EDIT 2: get another 120mm fan for the side panel, you don't get one as standard.

EDIT 3 lol: incase it wasn't obvious, RAID0 the 2 VelociRaptors as well.
