Shit apologies if i can't keep up with everyones replies. This is all greatly appreciated
I would love to build it i'm just wary of screwing it up. Plus they can overclock it for me as computers are not my forte.Sydney wrote:

If you're not comfortable then I wouldn't suggest you do it. Overclockers's prebuilt systems are a waaay better deal than most.
If you get a motherboard that's not a piece of shit and works properly, then ya.Sydney wrote:

I've had a number of dead components come from the egg. And it can be a pain in the ass to diagnose the problem then send it back and wait for the replacement in 2 weeks.
Honestly, I would want you to build it yourself. There's a first time for everything, and it's good experience. Sure you might have some problems, but nothing bf2s can't help you out with.
If you don't mind waiting for replacements of RMA'ed parts, then you should build it yourself.

Even better build and still miles under budget. double the RAM, faster RAM at that. and 2 9800GTXs instead of 2 8800GTXs and ~£300 less 0o
Seriously do it, if your frind can build a PC he can overclock. OCers overclocking service is shit frankly, 3Ghz is nothing, you could do that with the stock cooler at the stock voltage, waste of time and money.
EDIT: Also everyone here will help if you have problems.

But if you have the money why would you not get a GX2 over the GTX, the 98gtx is hardly even faster then the 88gtx. At least the gx2 is (more) worth the money!
I'm trying not to just waste his money for him, the GX2 is there if he wants it.james@alienware wrote:

It can hit it with an Ultra-120 Extreme with no fan, 3.7-4Ghz with a fan on.Gooners wrote:

At that point your NB starts to catch fire lol.

Just, wondering. It should be able to hit 3GHz without a Cooler right? Im getting the same CPU, but I already have a Zalman 9700NTTheEternalPessimist wrote:

Without a cooler? as in, no heatsink?!Gooners wrote:

I think he means with the stock cooler, it'll hit 3Ghz with it's stock cooler, its kinda small and shitty though so I wouldn't go much past that.
With that 9700 on it should be fine up at 3.4.

I would say that second build that Eternal provided is good.
But I can stress enough that new video cards are coming out in the upcoming weeks. Don't go crazy and waste your money on GX2's when the new single chip GPUs are rumored to be faster and cooler.

Sorry, you know what i meant, stock cooler. Loljames@alienware wrote:

I shake my head every time I see a "gamer" buy a prebuilt. May it be OCUK or Dell, they're all just as bad, some just less bad than others.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Using the term "better" is not called for here.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
