Firstly i am an Atheist and i am a meat eater.
But i was just thinking (this is directed to atheists, religious people may be able to come up with an answer based on philosophy) since atheists don't believe in god and know that the chance of being alive is so rare, is it wrong to take the life of an animal for food (when alternative food is available)? we are all animals, we are all related and we have all been lucky enough to experience life through whatever evolutionary route our ancestors have taken. is it wrong to end the existence of an animal from another species (while it is excepted that we shouldn't take the lives of our own esp for food)?
does our enjoyment of meat eating overide the value of an animals life based on the extreme odds it was even given a chance at life in the first place (i suppose one case is that particular animals wouldn't even be alive if we didn't choose to breed them for food, but that is a pretty poor chance at "life").
i'm still eating meat, just food for thought.
