Tim you faggot. GOVE/NHULUNBUY. Given that it accounts for so much of Australia's economy you'd think people would hear about it more but all the mexicans are smegging ignorant.

Oh and Tim....

Well as the entire Australian mining industry only contributes about 5.5-6% of total GDP, Some how I just don't believe you.

Had one of those last year. Ended up spending the majority of the time watching free movies where my sister works.

well, think for a moment if you are ready to pay more for power? If you are, then fine. If you aren't, deal with it. They have to hire people to dig the lines, pay for permits, etc etc etc etc, all of which costs loads of cash. The reasons they build overland power lines are cost and ease. You can't run a damn five foot bundle of power cables through 30 miles of terrain. Yes there is stupidity when building semi-urban lines near trees, but once again ask the company what costs them more: run the lines underground in the risk areas or front the cost in the off-chance that the lines go down.

PS: When I was living in Elk, WA in 1996, the power was out for three weeks due to the so-called "ice-storm"

i lose my power a good 10 hours a month every summer in heat well over 100 degrees. too many fuckers run the AC at less than 85 (which in 100 degrees feels like 65 anyways) so i know what its like. next time just sleep a lot or something.

This plant puts out something like $1,000,000 a day worth of product for shipping overseas. It's the second largest alumina plant in the southern hemisphere. Rio Tinto just bought it for $40 billion. BHP tried to buy it for $80 billion or so from Rio (or so the rumours around town say).

Tis a pretty big operation. Biggest mine in the NT.

And yeah I do remember that Nappy. Soz to hear you knew her.

That's $365 million annually. Where as Australia's GDP is $720 Billion. Which makes it 0.05% of GDP... Big yes, 5% not even close.

Srs I dunno exact figures but it's a bigger operation than the ranger uranium mine. Which is pretty big. Besides some Alcan dude said it was like 5% GDP so I believed him. He's like their head accountant. Real stingy bastard. Father of one of my mates.
