This is great AND bad...it will make PS3 fanboys cut themselves because it's one less thing to knock the 360 for, and it'll give the 360 capabilities to make it's games much larger...BUT, not everyone will have it or be able to afford it.

I heard from a reliable sauce that it's gonna be in the form of a external drive, much like the current HD one.

would make more marketing sense for the time being.

If they do this then I hope they make a decent offer to swap put the old 360's for the newer ones or all us that currenly own one will not be able to play future games!
At the very least sell Blu-Ray add-on cheap/er for those that currently own a HD-DVD 360.

If not we are screwed...

Yeah i cant see making the 360 a integrated blu ray console till the 720 comes out.

I doubt even the 540's gonna have an integrated blu ray drive - it would make sooo many (every) 360 game out at the min unplayable.

You forget that the 360 has a dual core processor and the ps3 is an octa core. Yea be happy but the fact that it will take much longer for loading and gameplay will be unbearable. This will make ps3s much cheaper than the 360 in initial cost and in overall costs.

Why? Blu ray player can play DVDs. Although I agree that I dont see the implimenting it in such a way that the games are blu ray and thus sort out the 360 storage problem (limited by its DVD drive I mean), since all the rest of you lads would be SLIGHTLY pissed off. Either that or they start releasing blu ray versions of 360 games which I dont see happening either.

I was half expecting a new 360 at christmas tbh, 360 has went a bit quiet recently and this is what happened with the original Xbox, went quiet n then BOOM new console. It also be a good idea in that sony aint replacing that PS3 any time soon, get a new console out and hit them where it hurts. 360 has had a good run.

I was going to buy a 360 this week, will see what shape this anouncement takes.

If it costs less than the elite great, I just want a inbuilt wireless. If I get one of these means I'll have 3 blu ray players. Fuck me am a sado

I would be amazed if they did do this, they can't run games from a blu ray disk without some pretty major firmware changes. I personally wont buy one, I already can watch blu ray films and it will cost an even larger extra cost onto what is already the most expensive console.

It would be good for both systems if the drive was integrated into the next 360 console. More stuff can be shoved onto the Blu-ray disc so we won't be limited to the DVD size anymore for games that are multi-platform.

The 360 has a triple core CPU and the PS3 has a cell CPU... meaning it has different cores working together to for one CPU while a multi core CPU runs like a multi-cpu system.

They would not do that unless if it was for films.

There is no way they can use it to play games on because it would result in people who already have a 360 and can not afford the Blu-ray add on being unable to play new games. Which defeats the point of a console which is that you do not have to upgrade your console to play the latest games.

The N64 had upgradeable RAM and there were only like two or three games that required it. It may be the same case with the 360 except you have to buy a whole nother console.
