There is nothing about not believing in god that suggests that we shouldn't eat meat. In the natural world some animals eat other animals. In fact Darwinian evolution suggests that we should eat meat, after all, it wasn't a species of herbivores that gave birth to civillisation, the omnivires did.
Animals eat animals. Does a cheetah feel bad for a gazelle? My philosphy on life is do what you have to to survive. Honestly though, i absolutly hate cruelty. Like... i really wont kill something unless i have to. You know? I enjoy shooting targets a lot more than deer.twiistaaa wrote:
Firstly i am an Atheist and i am a meat eater....
we are all animals
And furthermore, its not like i really... went out and killed a cow.
The cow had to die anyways, so reguardless of if i it him or not, hes still dead.
15 more years! 15 more years!
Aslong as you understand that meat comes from a living animal and you can live with that then its fine.
Exactly how I feel, although I do limit the amount of meat I eat and I may give it up entirely one day.sergeriver wrote:
I'm an agnostic, almost atheist. I value all animal life forms. I feel guilty every time I eat meat. I'm not a vegetarian. I'll stay hypocrite.
I don't understand how people can say plants are equal to animals, and that humans are not only above both, but morally entitled to kill and eat the other two. I always thought it was common sense that plants have no central nervous system, brain, or any sense of self awareness.
And one thing that makes me mad is when people say that in order to be a real man, you must eat meat. "GRRR, I'm a badass, I eat meat." I say you're a "man" when you stalk and kill prey with your bare hands, fair and square.
I too consider myself an atheist, and I have absolutely no problem eating meat. I don't technically feel bad for animals for being raised and slaughtered for my convenience, as I have more important things to think about, such as living my life the best I can before I die. It is all about survival of the fittest. As for us not being at the top of the food chain becuase we don't go out and kill the food ourselves, that is retarded. We are so badass that we enslave entire species and control every aspect of their life until we see they are fit enough to grace them on our plates. I never understood how/why people could be a vegetarian. I'm not trying to say that it is stupid in any way, I just can't understand their angle on the situation, even though I have had it explained many times, it just doesn't make any sense.

What's so badass about slavery?
i'm suprised at the amount of lame "meat is tasty" replies. yes, we get the joke. you're awesome and masculine!
but thanks to the people who actually made an effort to reply with some thought. the question was merely there to think about, i don't actually feel that way, it had just occured to me that i hadn't considered it before and i wanted to know if it had any merit.

Whenever you breathe, you are massacring millions of germs. Bastards.
There was so little of each meat that it wasn't an issue.Ender2309 wrote:
@ pubic: that sounds gross. ostrich and kangaroo? don't you know you can't mix those two? it just isn't proper!
The shop that sold me the final three meats was out of Emu, and Croc was $80/kg Being further from the source, that stuff is a bit more expensive here.DrunkFace wrote:
No Emu or crocodile?
Please don't associate the value of being completely non theist with the attitude of thinking eating animals is wrong. It's a bizarre train of thought.
Most people term themselves 'atheists' because they think that science, reason, rationality etc. outweigh the blind beliefs of religion in their minds and heart; most people call themselves atheists because they reject the unreasonable belief of a greater being or an omniscient 'owner' and God-figure. People don't become atheists because they somehow 'worship' the science behind evolution, holding it dear and intrinsic to their existence. Personally I've never met any atheist/agnostic/religious skeptic that would refuse to eat meat simply because the theory of evolution states that life is so rare. Life isn't even rare in itself... it's not even a miracle of probabilities and chance. Over millions of years, what has developed is all mathmatically possible and reasonable.
TL;DR: Meat tastes good, Communion bread does not. I am Atheist, and I Goddamn loooove my place at the top of the food chain.
