Check out the video preview. The on-screen piano looks cool.Last night, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer unveiled Windows 7, the next version of the operating system, for the first time. It doesn't look like it takes too many big leaps visually, instead changing the way people interact with it. One of its biggest new components is allowing for multitouch displays, hinting that Microsoft is betting people are ready to move beyond the keyboard and mouse.
Still about 18 months away, everything the dynamic duo showed off involved a multitouch display. From a 10-finger Paint program to a hands-on piano program, it all involved fingers. How this will translate to more traditional tasks currently best suited for a keyboard and mouse isn't clear, nor is what else the team plans to upgrade from Vista, but we've got plenty of time to speculate about it.
