Actually it feels like the level of spam from all members has dropped considerably over the past week with trackr coming. We're all more or less responsible members and we can turn on the "serious post" at any timeHurricaИe wrote:

well I say that you are the ones that take this too seriously. you are the ones that can no longer find enjoyment, so you create a disturbance. you take it SO fucking seriously that you start an e-petition.....what do you think is going to happen? OH is going to lose his mod status?

While I believe I rarely/never spam, I am opposed to the concept that the entire subforum for miscellaneous entertainment be deleted. Consider these things:
>Suppose I or some other member of this extensive community discover a fun and/or entertaining website, such as this. I suppose you could group this with the Graphics subforum, but there are other websites that have no place in any of Trackr's current subforums. Where do they go? Are we no longer allowed to post them?
>Suppose I find a humorous youtube or other streaming video that I would like to share with the community, such as the "Leave Brittany Alone" video. The closest subforum for this video would be Graphics due to the mountain of makeup Chris Crocker wears, but alas, I believe other types of videos lack a proper subforum. Are we prohibited from posting humorous videos now too?
I'm sure there are other examples of material that are either useful or funny that lacks a proper subforum on Trackr. I think the administration is overlooking the potential uses of an EE subforum and automatically associating it with spam. While I understand and respect the leadership's decisions, I believe that instead of prohibiting an EE subforum, there should be a definitive guide to spam (as Docta suggested) and stricter punishment for posting spam. As Posiedon said, there is no need to punish the entirety of the community for the childish actions of some members.

Yea, I quoted myself
The idea so far is that anyone trusted to moderate a certain aspect to the site should be trusted enough to moderate any aspect to the site. That said, with things shifting around a bit and the important addition of groups, that may change some. For example if the tech team and the graphics team are by invite/application only, maybe they would have additional privileges in their respective forums. Perhaps there will be a new round of mods appointed as well when we go to trackr, that would also make sense.Ryan wrote:

seconded. If EE is killed off and off topic posts killed off like they are now a large amount of the user base will have to leave. Many of us don't really play much anymore and aren't _that_ interested in D&ST so we would have nothing to do on here.Havok wrote:

Actually as far as I am aware, that is a novel idea. Since trackr is viewed as BF2S v2, I don't think it was ever really considered to screen people as a method to keep a "spammy" section.SEREMAKER wrote:

Though I must say, if we aren't going to let them on trackr, why not ban them now? I believe that is a darn good question.

since BF2s is on its last leg with only a few weeks left ( I guess a few ) a responsibly Mod I would say would ban now giving that person an understanding on why they were banned but a Mod with a evil laugh would just wait to Trackr and when the spammer is smiling as he punches in his password and hits enter ............ he gets a " No "
That's what I would do.SEREMAKER wrote:

Wonder why I'm not a mod?
I agree to an extent. First off, it's quite easy to realise why the "higher-ups" are a bit unwilling to make another JD/EE/etc., every now and then comes a flood of spam that may be amusing for a few seconds, but then the novelty wears off after forty other people follow suit. Then it just gets out of hand and ridiculous. Personally, all of us are able to bust out the "serious mode" and actually contribute, but the fact remains that despite that ability, it's always spam, spam and more spam (I believe I'm guilty of this also).Havok wrote:

Now to be fair, I believe that there should be a subforum dedicated for basically everything that doesn't pertain to the other forums. There needs to be some kind of place where you can just post what interesting (or sometimes not so interesting) things you have either found, thought of, or realised. But of course, freedom requires responsibility; imagine if the EE now was changed back to Junk Drawer and that the Mods stated they would no longer "moderate" that subforum. Even if the rules still apply to the subforum, what would most people be inclined to do? Spam, and do whatever, break whatever rules they please. Unfortunately, this may be the side of me that's quite pessimistic about human nature. We just need to mature, learn to be moderate - which is the thing that I believe many mods fear we do not have, and have sometimes proven we do not have (and thus the removal of EE at trackr). Yes, that example was a bit exaggerated, but still it kind of proves a point.
FM's posting of the carecup is taken out of context and is not really spammy IMO. First off, when people used to post the carecup what would they do? "\_/" would be the entire post. Nothing more; just like the recent influxes of "lol wut" and the like. (Although it is a bit funny). However, FM actually explains himself. Not just for the sole sake of trying to be funny. Really now.
This is not a suckup postnor trying to brown nose, if it comes off to you as one. This is just what I really feel about what we're trying to accomplish. Just a bit of hesitancy at the willingness of the community to maintain a mature composure.
yes please, i vote for keeping the junk drawer, it can be kept decent, and sociable.

There are many, many interesting threads in Everything Else. I love this section! I really do...but it is deteriorating fast. As a whole, this board is fine. But there are some people that take it too far by creating 10 threads, all of the same title and information, think it is funny and then get banned. And then two weeks later do it all over again "for the lulz". I'd suggest a rename, but that didn't go any good. From Junk Drawer to General Chatter to Everything Else, it all stayed the same. The occasional spam can be fun and interesting, but it gets repetitive. If EE comes over to trackr, great! But if it doesn't, I won't say I was surprised - because I won't be.

I think this secction is probably the main the reason as to why i come to bf2s but I think that sometimes when a spam topic comes around yes it can be funny, but when clone topics are made then it isn't a joke it just ends up making the person who create them looking like a retard.
