You can't stop the spam, hence no EE forums. You can't stop EE forum addicts from spamming other boards when they don't have their own, like when /b/ was down and everyone went to/a/ /d/ /r9k/.

I don't really post much, and I don't spam anyway, but there definitely needs to be a JD/EE on Trackr. I vote yes

K,  I just woke up Im totally confused.

I was also thinking.. if you want a EE type thread... coudln't you just create a group?  I JUST found out about the Trackr E-mail, so bear with me as I figure things out towards the relevancy of my post.

Sometimes it is tempting to get on the mod flame bandwagon.  I read all the posts in this thread,  and this idea seems bad.  But I saw this coming.
I decided to do what I was thinknig i'd do all along.  Find a new forum.  HOLD ON, not some BAAAWWWwwww this is ghey boo hoo way.

As Trackr is a gaming community, maybe it should be focused more towards gaming, and leave the bullshit behind.  There are things in this site I would like to post, can post, but know that most people have little interest in, so I shop for other places, forums that focus on things that aren't interesting enough/don't fly here.

That beings said.  the people so upset with the mods can always.....find another FORUM.  You don't like the rules, the mods/admins, and wanna spam to the point it pisses off/fucks over the people who DO like the way things are. Kindly GTFO.  Why stay?

Flaming said "think of it as punishment"  which I think is wrong, blatantly punishing the peole who did  nothing qwrong.. but I guess you have to do what you have to do.

I do think the problem is a fine line between keeping the enjoyable atmosphere that made BF2s great as opposed to keeping the forums in order, I think this may have went a tad too far.  A tad too far, but a reasonable and understandable action.

Besides, I ASK THE MODS, as Trackr moves along, and if things turn out for the better, there could alwys be the addition of EE in the future, if things look right? Yes?  Not to hold our breaths... but just maybe.

EDIT: Debate & SERIOUS TALK.

EXAMPLE:  "Hey guys check out the new paint job on my car"

as long as the "talk" remained on topic, would that NOT be okay?

(maybe a question that should be asked on Trackr, but I ask here to let others know, should a mod respond)

The same can be said the other way round - if you feel the need to have an "Everything Else" section why not go to another forum...in your words, "why stay". It is a punishment that all of us must take. Yes, some of us are innocent, yes, some of us don't spam and do make contributions, but you can't just pick off people. That leads to favoritism and someone saying "so i get banned and he didn't wtf he is worse".

Honestly, I think EE is almost out of control sometimes. I'm thinking from a moderator perspective here - you come on the forums, want to have a good time, but end up having to ban people you don't actually want to because of their actions, having to waste time closing stupid little immature threads and not being able to just enjoy the forums for what they are...a nice place.

Just to clarify here: I am pro-EE. I like it a lot ... and I will miss it if it goes away, but that's just a price that had to be paid. If the rules aren't enforced, there is just no reason to have them in the first place..

I know. I'm not really upset about it.  I was supported the mods on this one.  I was saying, it sucks, but makes sense. My only worry is that... well a good example  of threads I like "Rate the girl" "what do you look like" general discussion of cars, music groups, movies, may have no place now.
IF that is the intent to not have these types of threads, then that cuts a huge amount of what BF2s is... out.

NOTE: merely a comment and question, NOT A complaint.  I'm trying to be productive and positive.

I'd be happy with that tbh.

I'd rather have a month (or w/e) of zero spam, and people being banned, than x amount of years without an EE section.

I don't think there is a desire to get rid of half of the members ... however, a number of members struggle to follow the very first line of the rules:

Any post you make should directly contribute to the forum.
More to the point, there are forms of repetition humor that are epidemic on these forums, and it fundamentally violates the vision of this statement.  That is, some think it is funny to troll from thread to thread sprinkling /b/ memes, subtle disruptive flames, and unoriginal 4chan-speak (lol wut, no u, wat, inb4ban, etc.)  ... or some think that it is funny to repeat over-and-over-and-over the same thread or post with sometimes slight variation (such as the strings of no-content pyramid quotes ... or a dozen threads in Everything Else where the titles are slight variations of one another).

These forms of posting are annoying and childish ... and, if some of BF2s needs to be removed to reduce this posting style, then that's what is going to happen.

Personally, I would rather see the members behind it reform their posting style or be removed, rather than eliminate the EE forum, Karma, and IRC where it seems to germinate.

If Trackr dosen't have an EE section I'll be off as I like to visit bf2s to get away from the more serious side of life and thus for me all I would be left with to talk about things non BF2 is "Serious Debate" or whatever its called.

I must point out hardly any of this happens in IRC. Ops are loaded with anti-4chan guns and as a whole - IRC is fine. If anyone is smart enough to start being a moron, they are immediately greeted with a nice vacation.

The fun thing is the new spam rule. If you post less than 3 words average per post > auto-ban. That feature is win!

It's simple, as it stands now we aint gonna be getting a EE section on trackr - unless spam and general behaviour is seriously cut over here first.

JD/GC/EE has always been an integral part of the "bf2s experience", and is not one i'd want to see lost in the trackr transition.

So i want you to agree to try and keep things smooth over here - just to prove to people we can behave, and we can produce stuff with a purpose.

Are you in, or are you out?

This would be a very, very good thing to listen to if you enjoy this section. ~FM
If there's going to be no general chatter because a few people spam, then you know what, forget trackr. If they're going to do silly things like this because of a few people then they're not worth my time tbh, it seems like they're actively going and trying to kill this community. People are acting like the spam is outrageous, people need to grow the fuck up. And not just the spammers.

edit: I just got a trackr invite, let's see how it is

yeah, thats the way I feel ....... I came aboard for BF2 but EE keeps me here, what I like is this is area with combine interest ie. guns, knives, women etc etc its just not games, its a place for guys to hang out and shoot the shit

even though I've been gone for a few days I thought spam was almost non-existint till I saw those " what *** likes " threads and now were right back in the hole

I agree with Mek and SERE 100%.  Trackr will be a bit different (at least) but a whole lot different without an EE section.

I can only speak from my point of view but looking in the titles of topics/threads/sections, whatever's this is the only section that really appeals to me and the only one I spend anytime in.  I'm well aware how everyone is different and that most people frequent various sections rather than me, just the one (EE).

Games:

BF2 - Might pop in once a week
2142 - Dont have it
Source engine games - Have none
COD4 - Have it, dont play it, lol you could say the same about BF2
Crysis - As above
Other Titles: Visit once a month, maybe

Community:

Debate and Serious Talk - Im aware how I am too foolish for that section.  A blank reply box is just that, I would forget the section its in and show disrespect to a serious/genuine debate.  Not only that, I have enough Debate and Serious Talk at home with Mrs 27 everynight, wouldn't want to be arguing on here during work time aswell.  Last time I posted here I was asked to and kindly obliged.

Everything Else - Nobody will ever appriciate how the people who post in here have helped me in dealing with grief over the last 3 years or so.  Sadly a lot of them have moved on but the majority of people who post here are diamonds and are owed at least 1 beer by me, I'd love one day to pay them back that beer; who know's.

Tech - Have had great help over the years here, a credit to the people who post/used to post at bf2s.com

Clans - In one already but I'm not very active at all

Graphics - Well due to my job I should be able to photoshop or do l33t drawings but I can't.  I dont have an avatar or a sig so never pop in here either.

BF2S.COM

Very rarely unless directed will I visit this section as I know other people can offer more help and I get lost in the jargon thats often used when it comes to websites or computers.  The only time I have consistantly posted there was to do with "BF2S Squads and Servers" etc.

As I have said everyone is different but above are the reasons why I pop into EE and hardly anywhere else.

Same.  I think punishing the majority of users who don't spam is not the answer.  A lack of a General Chatter section will not only force current members to move on, but discourage potential members from joining, all in all the community will be less active, and who wants that?  In any case people would just go and spam D&ST or other sections instead, at least for now spam is generally confined to EE.

Although I agree that something needs to be done about the spam, I think removal of EE would be a bad move for Trackr.  But hey it's just my humble opinion.

Note that Mek, SERE, 1927 and myself aren't spammers, yet we would be an example of the people moving on, doesn't sound very fair if you ask me.

I'll do the stickers, you do the t-shirts.  I don't want one of those madi gra ones which only cover half ya guts either.  Blue will do, large please.

I have suggested to KILLSWITCH to teach these pesky admins a thing or two that we make a break away group, our own version of bf2s.com.  We can call it CARDIFF CITY FOOTBALL CLUBS.COM if you wish (catchy I know, oh, they are a UK football team btw SERE) and we can talk all things CARDIFF CITY in it and have our own EE section

I would be seriously gutted if EE was to be scrapped.  I would never get my head around the fact it was scrapped because some people spammed in it.  I have never had a problem in holding my hand up and admitting I de-rail threads but its how I type/post.  I would never sit here and think pre-post "Hmmm lets see how I can make this go off topic" and do it on purpose.  Likewise I never take offence when it happens in a post I have created.  I usually post about boring shit so it's understandable anyway.
