I moved my flatscreen CRT from my media rig to my gaming rig, as my LCD is just too crappy for gaming. However, the CRT ran at 1280x960@85Hz on the media rig, whiles the LCD only supports 75Hz. Normally, there shouldn't be a problem, as Windows would adjust this automatically, but it doesn't. No matter what I do, the refresh rate remains at 85Hz. I've reinstalled the drivers, booted in VGA mode, etc. Nothing works after I reboot with the drivers installed. I don't feel like moving the screen back, so has anyone got any good solution to this?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
