I said think of it as one not because it the decision was made as one, but because people are trying to logic their way out of it. If you approach it as a punishment and reform your ways, give a good reason to believe that things will be better then we have a better chance of getting the section back than if it is viewed as a decision, and people try to logic their way into a section.
You guys are seriously underestimating chuy. He understands that EE is a big part of the community, he understands there is plenty of legitimate need for such a forum, he knows perfectly well what he is doing and its ramifications. Stop trying to show him these things he already knows, because you're missing the point.
BF2S did not grow into the vision of a mature site that chuy wanted, so he is going to try to change that on trackr. Nothing can be done to change what he wants, so those are the rules we have to play by. It doesn't matter how integral the section is to how the site currently functions, because I think he would rather lose half the members by losing the section to give the site the atmosphere he wants.
Essentially, you're misinterpreting his goals - it's not to keep as many people from BF2S on board, it's to make a community that fits his vision. If we want to keep our section, the best way to go about it is to show him that we can maintain a section like that and remain within the boundaries of his vision.
Sadly some pricks, as Kyle pointed out with his links, are going to ruin it for everyone because they can't keep it under control. What can you do about it? Don't respond to these bullshit threads, and report them/contact a mod. Many of you already do the second part of that, and it's great. I really like how when some crap starts going on on the boards and I'm in-game or something, I will get 2-5 xfire messages from people warning me about it. That's great, keep it up! However, if you really want to show chuy how mature we can be about a fun section, don't even reply. You might make a funny, you might be able to post a lolcat, but is it worth losing the section?
Honestly, I can't think of
anyone that wants to see EE go. Not even chuy. Honestly, I'm not sure I could remain active anymore, which is why I'm trying so hard to make you guys see exactly what the problem is and what you can do to fix it. What I think most people want, and namely the ones on the administrative team, is reform to make the section more mature (without losing all the lulz) and a generally nicer place to be.
Please save EE. Please beat people over the head who spam needlessly. Someone make sigs.
